Crohn's disease:

Crohn's disease is characterized by chronic inflammation of the colon. Most patients also experience abdominal pain and weight loss. The treatment for Crohn’s disease is similar to that of ulcerative colitis in the sense that it can be treated with sulfasalazine, mesalamine preparations, glucocorticoids and 6 mercaptopurine.

Crohn's disease is an inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract (the route that food goes through from start to finish). The exact cause of Crohn's is unknown. There are a number of symptoms including pain in the lower right part of the abdominal area, cramping, nausea, fever, diarrhea, weakness, and fatigue.

Overall, watch out for dehydration and maintain fluid balance. Be alert for intestinal bleeding (bloody stools) and talk to the doctor about what diet is neccessary.

Best of luck.

If your daughter has it, be prepared for a long list of things she probably will not be able to eat again. Have an ex girlfriend who has it and it seems everything she eats causes her problems.

My sympathy for your daughter, her mother is so illiterate that no matter what the physician tells her to do, this mother will screw up.
