If you really want to be anti-armor that bad, enlist into the Army infantry. If you can get Javelin school in your initial contract, by all means do so. When you arrive at your replacement unit for your gaining unit, find out where you're getting orders cut for as soon as you can from your replacement cadre. Once that happens, go downrange and talk to whatever Battalion Sergeant Major you're going to work for. Talk to him at the earliest and beg for a Delta Company slot, which is all motorized anti-armor (TOWs), heavy machine guns, and automatic grenade launchers. The only extra training time you'll have is the two weeks at Javelin school. Your gaining unit will teach you how to operate the M2, the Mk19, and the TOW through OJT - On the Job Training.
Carrying the Javelin is no fun; just the CLU alone is bulky as hell. Since you don't want to be mechanized it seems, being on wheels is probably the best way for you to go. Good luck.

There are way more career opportunities open in the Army. As an infantryman your unit will send you to a lot of different training where you'll learn a huge variety of things. I think that you're getting too narrowly focused when you say you want to be anti-armor. Just think of how many of the enemies we are actively fighting today have tanks.

You have to be joking! The lessons we learned from Vietnam teach most of us that combat is not heroic or character building, war is destructive. War kills kids and their mothers. Wars make you **** your pants, scream like a lost child and experience a powerful sense of being ashamed.
Then war gets tough. The smell of death gets in your nose and will not clear up for days. And then for years later you will be right back in combat every time your nose smells rotten dead meat.
Not only your sense of smell well remember combat, but your sense of taste is also altered because some common foods you always loved will now be off limits for you. It could be MacDonald Hamburgers or hot dogs, but something you loved will know be the trigger for a return trip to the battlefield, and no matter who you are with or even if you are alone, you will be terrified.
You will be crying out during the night and others will have to try and wake you without getting whacked in the nose or worse.
You may begin to cry uncontrollable when you see the color red splashed on a billboard or in front of you on the wall.
If you have to join the military, join the Air Force, or the Navy, but don't join as a Priest or a maintenance person. Avoid any and all supply jobs. Good Luck.

Sorry can't help you
but all I will say is good for you for doing what you believe but I will say one this, and if your cool with it then that's fine:
Are you will to kill both the 'ememy' and innocent civilians? And are you willing to be killed or maimed?
I only ask because you need to be ready for anything, hopefully you will never be faced with these questions but you need to mentally be prepared

before you think of joining the army, you should know that Bush directed the army to increase recruitment by taking in people with low IQ's (idiots), criminal records (future war criminals), and age up to 42 (geriatric brigade).
Do you really want to be associated with that?

If you have to ask how much you can't afford it . . . . . If you ask how much training, then you are not ready. Go to college.
