I have been under a major amount of stress and haven't been able to stay asleep at night. I fall asleep and about 2-3 hours later wake up and cant fall back to sleep. Its not like I start thinking, I just lay there saying "ive got to go back to sleep" or toss and turn and sleep so lightly I hear everything in the house. I AM SOOOO TIRED. I do not want to take meds. Anything I can do? Do not be rude or perverted.

I had a similar situation./.. the doctor put me on sleeping pills.. gave me a total of 6 and I only used two.. He said that what he was trying to do was to break the cycle.. once that was broken, I could get back to a normal sleep and it did work

LOL sorry I dont mean to laugh but I know exactally how you are feeling. I dont necessairly want to hurt anyone by any means but I get mad and annoyed at the stupidest things. Like right now I am super annoyed at the thought that my sister is probably going to go into labor before I do (we are due 2 days apart March 6th adn 8th) and really there is no reason to be mad I just want to be done being pregnant. Try to hang in there, with my first I didn't work the last month or 2 of my pregnancy due to being put on bed rest. You don't want to put your job on the line with a baby on the way it will just make things more stressful. Find something that helps break up the day or do something on your lunch break that you really enjoy! Good Luck I hope you feel better!

Make sure you don't do anything stressful like exercise or mentally stressful either at least several hours before bed. No caffeine either. Turn your clock away from you when you sleep, worrying about how long you have left to sleep can make it worse. Some experts suggest getting up and doing something when you wake up, like reading until you feel comfortable enough to sleep again. Sometimes turning on a fan or a constant noise will help distract light sleeper from other noises (this works for me). Good luck hope you get some sleep.

try sleeping with a fan on that will drown out noises. get into a routine: get into your pj's, turn down the blankets, brush your teeth, wash your face, get something to drink then go to bed. a routine will tell your brain when it's time to sleep. if you don't want to take meds there are alternatives. you can try chamomile or de-caf herbal tea 30 minutes before bed. Valerian root is good too. also don't lay there stressing about how you can't sleep, that makes it worse. get up watch TV or read a book for 20 minutes then try going back to bed. if this goes on for longer than 1 month you need to see a Dr. sleep is very important and lack of it can cause other health problems.

I would consider an "otc" med ..
I would make a cup of hot buttered rum ..
about 1/2 of rum, 1/4 sugar, 1/2 cup water. heat.

Here is a breathing excercise:

Then I would lie in the bed, close your eyes and breathe slowly in .through the nose. count to 5 or 7 or 10 .what ever is comfortable hold for 1 .. breath out through the mouth for 7 to ten. and just listen to your breath and your silent counts. do this until you fall asleep or feel really strange. And have a notion of polite calm and healing. visualize good coming in and the used up leaving your body. You might feel strange after awhile .. and if so .. just stop.

Even if you don't fall asleep .. this 1/2 asleep state is very good for you.

When I have trouble falling asleep, I drink a tea called "Sleepy Time" from Celestial Seasonings. You can buy it at your local grocery store and it isn't too expensive.

Another good option is taking Valerian Root. You can do it as a tea or take the pill. You can find them at your local vitamin shop.

You want to look for anything with Valerian Root, Chamomile, Orange Flower Extract, Lavender or Passionflower. You can try teas, aromatherapy or vitamins. All these have calming properties that will help you relax. And Chamomile is EXCELLENT for menstrual cramps and headaches too!!!

Check the websites below for more info.

Sweet dreams!!

Your choices seem to be to take a soothing warm drink like a non-caffeine tea or postum and avoid any exciting TV shows late at night. See where that gets you. If that doesn't seem to be doing it you can hop out of bed to your computer and read through some of the Yahoo questions and answers. If you pick the right topic you will barely have enough stamina to crawl back to bed and keel over for the rest of the night.

Start getting regular exercise, and that doesn't mean a walk around the block. You don't have to go Ah-nolt Schwarzeneggar, just get winded doing exercise every day - and not too late in the day. This should help you cope with the stress and get you tired enough to sleep decently.

Oh, one more thing - make sure your diet isn't junk.

I get this way a lot. Have you tried exercise? Exercise is great for stress it really helps reduce all the tension. I'm not trying to be nasty or anything but sex has always helped me relax and fall a sleep quickly. That is if your married or in a really good relationship. I hope ive helped in some way.
