It would depend on your own personal view on spirituality. Christianity is focused soley on the Bible. (though many Christian demoninations tend to insert their own view of God and their interpretations of the Bible into their doctrines) Believing that through Christ's death on the cross, we now have direct access to GOD the Father - hence the tearing of the temple curtain that separated hte preists from GOD)
Whereas Catholism relies on many tools and texts other than the Holy Bible, such as the Didache, The Roman Ritual and their own Catholic translations of the Bible. Some of which, many believe, contradict some of the concepts and teachings found in the Bible. They also rely on the edicts of the Pope as infallible (Christians beleive that no man except Christ is infallible) and teach that the "Church" (the heiarchy of Preists, Nuns, Cardinals, Bishops, etc) is an authority over the individual worshiper. In other words, do not have direct access to GOD, but rely on the Church to petition the Lord on their behalf.
So, the differences (though there are surely too many ti name here) are many, but to ask which one is "better" than the other is not exact a valid question. It comes right down to: which doctrine do you eel most comfortable with? I suggest you do some peronal research. As opposed to fully relying on answers fed to you by others on this site or elsewhere. You will be much more confident of what you know about both religions and therefore be much more capable in the future of explaining what you beleive and why, when asked by others.

Cathloicism is a branch of Christianity. The other main branch is Protestantism. The Protestants split off from the Catholics during the Middle Ages, and they are a multi-branched limb. Then you have the so-called "cults", like Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, Christian Scientists, etc., all of which profess Christ and seek to follow his teachings and consider themselves to be "Christians". Some insist they are the only true Christians. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and their own "faith". A Christian is a follower of the teachings of Jesus Christ, an intinerant First Century preacher, but there is a lot of differences of opinion on what he actually said and taught, hence all the division, and sects, and split-offs.

Catholicism is a KIND of Christianity, along with many others. There are some faults with it, but also with all the others.
I just call myself a Christian because I believe in and try to follow Jesus. That makes me not a Catholic but not an anti-Catholic.

They aren't the same, but Catholicism INCLUDES Christianity, since Catholics believe that Christ is the son of God. I'm an unbeliever and even I know that...

Catholicism is a form of Christianity.
Which is better; Presbyterianism or Christianity? Methodistism or Christianity? Lutheranism or Christianity? Baptistism or Christianity?
Nope. It just doesn't make sense. They REALLY ARE the same.

They are not the same. But I've never been Catholic - so I only know what others have told me about it. It depends what you want. Catholics have:
Salvation by works
most do not read the bible - nor know what is in it
idols to pray to - Mary and the Saints
Churches that demand money
religious practices that have no biblical foundation whatsoever
Christians have:
Salvation by faith and grace
alot of them will actually read their bibles and study them
But, they have a lot of law being preached to them even though they are not under the law - but under grace...
You must be born again - you can pick what ever lable you want to call yourself from there.

They aren't the same. But no one religion is better than the other. When it all boils down, a person is worshipping who he/she feels is the highest power. I'm sure every religion has its advantages and disadvantages.
I was raised a Christian, but I attended Catholic schools from kindergarten-12th grade. I must say Catholicism was quick and fast. I didn't have to stay in Mass longer than an hour and I didn't have to dress up. Unfortunately I didn't get to have the communion and wine because I wasn't Catholic.

Catholicism is a typre of Christianity, but Catholics take some things that are not in the bible, and they used to be very corrupt. A lot of them don't understand their religoin because mass used to be in Latin only.

No, sadly they are not the same. They were the same for 1,500 years after Christ. But then Christianity was infiltrated by a new manmade tradition, destined to spawn thousands of unauthorized and unauthoritative new churches, in direct violation of the stated will of God - that they all be ONE. Now there are three traditions which claim to be Christian. One which can trace its origin back to Christ Himself and the Apostles, which has been present in every century, and which still teaches the fullness of truth;one which broke away from the true Church of Jesus Christ in the 11th Century, but still teaches essentially the fullness of truth; and one which broke away from the True Church of Jesus Christ in the 16th Century, founded by men on non-Christian principles, resulting in thousands of conflicting manmade denominations and doctrinal chaos. Which of these is "best"? You choose.

CATHOLICISM. We catholics are the founding church that sprang up all there other denominations. Plus we are the first OFFICIAL church. Jesus told Peter(pbuh) to start a church and the name was Catholic(matthew16:17-19). Jesus didn't start christianity because that is mans words on his teachings. I would rather say I'm catholic than christian to be completly politically correct. If you believe in Jesus then how can you not be catholic if this(and it is) the church he TOLD peter to make. Then Jesus said NO DIVISION WITHIN THE CHURCH!!!!!!!So for you not to be catholic makes no sense and alot of you people are your denominations because your mom was or dad was. And your not catholic because you don't agree with things we do. If you read the bible (AGAIN MATTHEW16:17-19) Peter created our church from the direct mouth of Jesus. Why be anything else. He didn't tell NO ONE ELSE to start a church. So anything outside of catholocism is WRONG regardless of what you think it was supposed to be like(NO DIVISION IN THE CHURCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)you don't like the pope alot don't but your still catholic. You don'tlike something don't do it but don't stop being catholic because you have a revalation that somehow superceeds what Jesus told Peter.
