First of all, asx stands for Austrailian Stock Exchange. This is a file that is normally opened with and only with the help of a program designed to run stock reports on the exchange. There are files that we cant run just by saying "open" however, those particular programs first change the file to a different type which can then be opened for it's use. The file can be opened by using dos by using the command "edit (name of file).asx You'll find that it's in binary and cant be changed. Hope this helps. Larry.

.asx files cannot be opened without an internet connection - it's only a tiny bit of code that tells Windows Media Player what url to locate and the file streams from the site via the player. Then it evaporates - that is, it is not downloaded to your computer and is not savable.
