Why can't the illegal immigration issue be decided by US citizens instead of sold out traitors like George W Bush and Ted Kennedy among others, why aren't we allowed to vote for something that affects everyone's life for generations to come.

Because you are NOT REPRESENTED IN CONGRESS.

congress is ruled like an oligarchy (kennedy) for the benefit of the ruling elite and the big money that bought them an election. Until we eliminate corrupt career politicians from congress this will not change. We need term limits just like the president. Have you ever wondered why the president is the only one of the three with term limits. And why do people worry so much about one man when the stupid laws are written by a bunch corrupt careerists.

1) cut their pay in half today
2) eliminate their retirement completely
3) make them contribute to social security like the rest of us
4) enroll them in a ppo, make them pay deductibles just like us
5) cut their staff in half, dollars or people
6) make them pay rent on their office just like self employed do
7) publicly fund all elections, everyone gets the same dollars
8) allow them one term, reasonably pick the number of years, but then they are out.

Ben Franklin said of congress, "They are of the People, and return again to mix with the People, having no more durable preeminence than the different Grains of Sand in an Hourglass. Such an Assembly cannot easily become dangerous to Liberty. They are the Servants of the People, sent together to do the People's Business, and promote the public Welfare; their Powers must be sufficient, or their Duties cannot be performed. They have no profitable Appointments, but a mere Payment of daily Wages, such as are scarcely equivalent to their Expences; so that, having no Chance for great Places, and enormous Salaries or Pensions, as in some Countries, there is no triguing or bribing for Elections"

Technically, you do control the issue. Vote for enough people that have the same viewpoints as you then when they are in office, get enough people to hound them day after day to do something and maybe something other than just a proposal will be brought up. You are correct in thinking that our current leadership will do nothing. ALL of them are lazy and are only out to discredit and steal votes from the other side. They could care less about what the people think because they have forgotten that they work for us and make that six digit salary to satisfy us. We need to remind them of that.

There is no vehicle for the people to decide which issues should be decided by direct democracy and which by representative democracy, so basically the answer is because the people we elected don't want us to decide. As for Bush, he doesn't want the problem solved, because big business relies on illegal workers to provide cheap labor. However, he wants amnesty because if the problem must be solved, amnesty only raises the amount these businesses have to pay to minimum wage, rather than pulling the cheap laborers out from under them. This is how it is, whether you like Mexicans or not.

The immigration problem is being held up by almost all Democrats in Congress. There are some Republicans that do, but most are on the right track. We need to elect more conservatives in Congress because they are the only ones willing to deal with this.

What is crazy is that another country is dictating to us.

Why should we continue to take the massive numbers of Mexicans...why do we keep them...what does Bush and Kennedy have to gain from this....are we being sold out for some kind of "global" ruling?

Bottom line, we will not go with the political flow. What we will see will be a terrorist war fought in our country....

But we shall prevail.....

I've been sending them e-mails asking the same thing. I "thought" they were there to represent us the citizens/voters of the USA and not ILLEGALS. Guess I was wrong on that one.

I am voting against anyone on my ballot that is pro-amnesty, pro-illegal. I hope others follow suit

Welcome to representative democracy. It's the way the system works. It's assumed that the people already had their say when they voted the politician into office. If you want more control, move to Switzerland, it's the only full democracy I know of.

you demand an election - when you are not satisfied whith their decision. if you were satisfied - you would not demand a vote...
