This is a really weird question, but I am hoping someone will know the answer...
Every night, I have 3 Oreos and a glass of fat free milk, I dunk the first cookie and it gets soggy in, lets say, 15 seconds. Then I dunk the next one and it takes twice as long to get soggy. By the 3rd cookie, it can take as much at 4x the time to get soggy than the first cookie did.
My wife thinks I am insane (and I may be:) but has anyone else noticed this? And more importantly, can anyone explain why each cookie takes longer to get soggy??
Thanks!

yes i have noticed it, each time you dunk, part of the water that makes up milk gets absorbed by the cookie, leaving less water in the milk, and more of the solids and other constituants of the milk. after a few cookies, it does take longer to soak in, because of less water. I have told people this theory before, and they didnt belive me either, (or just didnt care) but that is what happens, I think. Thanks for noticing.

Oreos are weird to begin with. No other Cookie in the world is enhanced by milk than the Oreo!!! What you experience is the "Oreo Phenomenon" As the first Oreo is Dipped it influxes Oreo Magic Dust!!! To understand this you have to know about "Magic Cooking Stuff" this is brought by this Fairy at night. IF, you understand and the Fairy bring this to you, will never run out of the "magic cooking stuff". Just provide a small container and if you sincere about cooking "Sweets" she will bring this to you. Now, this is what happens. After the Magic Oreo Powder is influxed into the milk it becomes more like chocolate milk and becomes thicker and less absorbent. The more cookies you dip the thicker the milk becomes. This how Chocolate Bars are made. But, this starts with the Fairy that bring the "Magic Cooking Stuff" It only work on Sweets. Hope you understand.

Maybe the fat from the middle is leaking out into the milk and since fat floats on the top, it coats the 2nd cookie in fat and makes it "milk-resistant". Then some of the fat from the 3rd cookie escapes and so on! ha ha! Good job only eating 3! That's self control!

That is kind of odd... Maybe since there is now cookie crumbs in the milk, It takes longer for the milk to get around them and penetrate your oreo. Good guess.

lets consider the variables here
the cookies are all from the same pack? can't be a stale 1 among them.
the room temperature can't have cooled the milk in the time it took to dunk ur next cookie?
ur mouth experiencing any changes between cookies?
r there flakes of cookies in ur milk? that could slow down the absorption rate...
the water on top of the milk could have lessened...?
shite i don't know...

hm... never tried this before, but maybe i will. i'm in the mood for chocolate :)
maybe it takes longer to get soggy because there is less milk in the glass because the cookies before it are absorbing the milk?

well when ever you dip your cookie into the milk it soaks it up right? Well i think, that when the cookie soaks up the milk the milk gets lower and lower and it gets harder for the cookie to soak up the milk to it takes a longer amount of time for the milk to make the cookie soggy.
Hey its what i think
hope i helped

No you are NOT INSANE,
I noticed the same thing when I was a kid... my mom told me I was crazy!
It is my theory that since there are crumbs and such in the milk that it takes it longer to soak into the fresh cookies.

wow, i have never noticed this... WHY did you notice this? lol.
maybe it has something to do with how much air exposure each cookie receives. know what i mean? maybe the last cookies are exposed to more air than the first, so they lose moisture. that's why it takes so long to soak.
just a guess.
