You should really feel proud of him for even remembering that he needs to go potty on the toilet and not in his diaper. So, just be happy of that he is only 2, he will start going by himself when he feels ready, if you challenge him to much-believe it or not he might even start going in his diaper again because he would feel pressure like he is doing something wrong. Just be patient the time will come-when he's ready. Be there for him dad, he needs encouragement right now :)

.... he's 2!!! Jeheebee's!!!
2 year olds always want someone to go with them. Going by yourself is "scary" at two. I was scared to go by myself until I was like 4! I thought someone was going to pop out from behind the shower curtain or bust through the window or jump out the towel closet. I never went by myself at 2.

He may not realize that he doesn't have to tell your wife when he has to go! My son called me from his room EVERY morning when he woke up in the morning. It was a habit he had made when he was in his crib. By the time he was 5 years old, and out of his crib for several years, I said, "you know, you can just get out of bed when you wake up in the morning..." He said, "REALLY?!" It was funny.

Just feel lucky he is willing to be potty trained this early! My little one wouldn't even try the toilet till 3 and now that she is 4 she still won't wipe herself. (I think that's more my fault though, I worry that she won't get it all and she will walk around with poop on her bum or something, lol) But it will all work out in time!

well, you are talking about a 2 yr old child... not a 7 yr old. whether your 2 yr old is potty trained or not, he should'nt be left ALONE on the bathroom by himself! just imagine things that he can possibly do alone in the bathroom.... think about it.

And if he is corrected..... when he goes to school and pee in his pants because he's afraid to ask the teacher for permission to go pee.

sounds like you have a good wife who is being a good mom, she probably tells him how good of a job he is doing and that she's proud of him. and in turn, he likes the praise. where's the harm? there is none. "praise a child and they will become confident"
