Honey... You should be incredibly proud of yourself. You have obviously got a brilliant child... She didn't chuck up a stink, she went to the party in what you chose for her... If she was a brat, she wouldn't have gone and she would of made life hell for you!! Well done... You are an excellent mum. Don't feel guilty for thinking of her health instead of fashion... That is your job... No-one else is going to love and care for that child like you... Congratulations.. I hope my daughter grows up to be a wonderful child like yours... Have an awesome day!

I tell you what, she won't hardly remember the incident in no time at all. This type of situation can happen. You don't say she felt you ruined it for her so now just don't make a big deal out of it. Even as a adult this happened to me at a nieces wedding. I had a new pantsuit and really wanted to wear it somewhere. My mother said she was going to wear pants so I felt it would be okay but she changed her mind. I decided to wear it anyway and I was the only one wearing pants. This probably affected me alot more than the incident with your child who is too young to remember such things. When she is older she will start remembering and things like that will be more important. Guilt is a heavy burden; do your best to let go of it and move on. And, thanks for sharing it, by sharing it you help lift the guilt off too. You probably would have felt badly if she had worn it and gotten paint or some other gunk on it. Actually, depending on the art materials involved, it may not have really been appropriate to wear a party dress. For craft projects especially for that age group, casual attire like jeans is really more appropriate.

You were only looking out for her health. She'll get over it. When she's a young woman, she'll probably laugh about it, if she remembers it at all. Kids parties are overboard nowadays as it is. Hopefully when she's a teen or young adult she can put it in perspective. Sheesh if that's the worst thing that happens, she's a lucky child.

There isn't a school for parenting, and our babies didn't come with instruction manuals. Sometimes we make decisions that we think are the best for the child, but later don't seem like that great of an idea. You were looking out for your daughter, and nothing is wrong with that.

She won't care about having to wear jeans to the party a year from now... in fact, she won't care even a week from now!

In similar situations I let her wear what she likes and take the jeans with my self.If she feels cold, she will change it.
Girls are very sencetive about their clothes.
