Australians used the FAL rifles with a shortened barrel and modified gas system. The FAL has a long barrel and was cumbersome I am sure to use in the jungle. After Vietnam I believe certain units like SASR switched to the M16 series due to weight and amount of ammo they could carry.

the M14 and the M16 were the standard issue rifles. Various other arms were used, but never to a great degree.

Honestlly I don't remember them. I do remember the M14, M1 carbine, AR15, and "Duck Bills" (early M16 pos with a crome bolt)

by the Australian forces they had a version special for jungle warfare some thing like the para version
