I would wear a black suit or tux with a white shirt and purple bow tie and cuff links and try and find purple flower of sorts for the lapel of his suit jacket. Black shirt will dull the color purple. You just want to accent your stand out color purple.

I think if he wears purple, it will look like you are going to Prom. Is it a very formal wedding? Then, I say all black tux or suit with white shirt.

Who says u would desire to? only positioned on superb cool tux. and doubtless a silk hankerchief thingy that fits her dress in the breast pocket of your tuxedo? NO purple TIE for an adventure that demands a tuxedo clothing. till you men are appearing on the form lol it would look cheesy
