Unfailing belief/faith and science cannot truly coexist. When you look at something scientifically, you HAVE to have proof to validate it. Faith is the opposite. You just know what you know and you don't NEED proof. As you read your bible more, your faith will grow. Know that it is the divinely inspired word of God and that God is always true to His word.
What do I believe happens when we die? Nothing. I believe that when we die we know nothing and we feel nothing---until the Resurrection. I believe that after a saved person dies they have no conscious thoughts until Jesus returns. You die and your next conscious thought is being in the presence of the Lord. If you're not saved, I don't want to think about your next conscious thought. Some people believe you go directly to heaven or hell. It really doesn't matter to me because I know where I'm going---and I won't being wishing for ice water.
"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. " John 14:1-3

You seem sincere and thoughtful, and so that's the kind of answer I will give you.
Loving life is a very good thing. It's very important. This life is all that you will ever have, and nothing will make up for wasting it. Now, you can believe in god and even life after death and still have a good, meaningful life, but if you live your life as though it were just a prelude to a life after death, you're throwing everything away. There simply is no reason to believe that there is a life after death: no-one has anything to support that notion.
Believe if it helps you, but whatever you do, recognize the value of this life: it is all that you have.

When I was younger I feared death same as you. But as I grew in the Lord and read, prayed more I began to believe there is a heaven and when I die I will go there. Its not always easy to believe in something you can't see but have faith and ask God to minister to your Spirit and He will. At times I still wonder but than I pray and I feel peace after that. We all have doubts at so time in our christian walk so your not alone. Keep searching through the scripture and talk with others and the answers will come.

I think it is really important for you to know that you are a spiritual being having a physically human experience, you came from the other side when you were born, so if you where to do a little meditation on that you would see that you really have nothing to fear, I can assure you, you will be greeted with love and compassion by those that you know and by the loved ones that have gone before you, I can tell you this and I do not know why I just know, there is a much better place that awaits us all, God knows the struggle we all have being confined and restricted to a human body, so just know truly Paradise awaits us all.

>Can anyone REAlLY answer tthis question
>or is it really just blind faith?
I think the answer to each of those questions is "NO".
No one can REALLY answer that question. Some who seem to have had NDEs may seem to have the answer; but others from other religions seem to have experiences too. The ONLY ONE Whom we know was "crucified, dead, and buried" and the "third day rose from the dead" ... He is the only one who can tell us for certain sure ...
Remember, Jesus Christ so loved us that He gave himself for us; He died on Calvary's cruel cross, for our redemption.
Jesus said that He goes to prepare a place for us and that He will come again to receive us unto Himself. Since Jesus So loves us and has offered us the gift of Eternal Life, why wshould we think "death" is anything other than the most speldid experience. Yes, many of us may fear the process of dying; but we should have no fear of the state of death. He inspired His apostles to teach us that "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord".
We do NOT accept this on "blind faith"; all of the acceptance of Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord and following him is "by faith", a "reasoned faith", not "blind faith".
Remember the Pharisees and the Sadducees.
The Pharisees believe in angel and spirit (and the life to come)
The Sadducees believed neither in angel nor spirit (nor the life to come).
That is why they were Sadd-u-cee (sad-u-see).

This is a tough one to answer. I am also a Christian and I also get scared about death and dying. BUT, if we believe that God is in control and has promised us eternal life then we have to trust Him and believe that we will be in Heaven when we die. If you pray, and you believe that God listens and answers your prayers then why should it be all that difficult to believe that there is a heaven. If you believe that God takes care of us and watches over us while we are alive on earth then why wouldn't you believe that he would take care of us after death? Death is an unknown for all of us and that is what makes it scary. Maybe you should pray about it and ask for understanding and peace over it.

It is just blind faith. The unknown is always the scariest. I feel that possibly the bible and all faiths are just ways to deal with not knowing since it is alot more comforting to think that you will die and go some place great instead of dieing and that is it nothing more...

There is nothing to fear. There is a lot of evidence that you continue to experience life after you die. This doesn't have to do with faith or religion, but what people have said they experienced. Look at this website:
http://www.near-death.com/
Science says some of these experiences can be reproduced by stimulating parts of the brain. However, there are many cases where people came back from the experience with information that was impossible for them to know. This part of the experience is still unexplained by science.

Initially, you will see the effects of your beliefs; that is, you will see what you expect to see, what you were taught. This will fade, and you will be greeted by either someone you knew who had "died", or someone who choses to help those who cross over. They will help you adjust to a reality far more sensible and kinder than you presently believe. Do not fear. Perfect Love awaits.

it takes being really born again to live forever in His kingdom...
we sleep first after death Then we are raised to be judged.. If youre not actually born again you should pray for help and be baptized and then you wont worry anymore. Life is a new beginning for Christians...
