You need to have a veterinarian determine what the problem is with his ears. It could be mites; it could be a yeast infection; it could be an ear infection; it could even be a tick embedded way down in the ear canal.

The vet can tranq him and get a sample, look at it under the microscope and then prescribe appropriate treatment. He can also clean those ears out while the dog is sedated. Regardless of what the problem is, any medication administered into the ear is going to be more effective if it's administered into clean ears.

As a matter of curiosity, if he won't let you clean his ears, what makes you think he's going to let you medicate them? Invest in a muzzle and don't give him an option to "let" or "not let." You're the one with the thumbs! ;o)

They have medicine for ear mites at any pet store, just drop a few drops in his ears. that will kill the mites, but sooner or later you have to go in the ear and clean them out. Maybe the reason that he doesn't let you touch his ears is because they are irritated by the mites. Put the drops and wait a few days until the die and see if then he will let you clean his ears. Go to the pet store and just ask for ear mites drops for dogs, it is about 3 or 4 dollars, but it last a long time. I am sure those mites are eating your dogs ears up. Help him soon. It is good to see people that really care for their dogs.

Please take him 2 the vet. It may not be ear mites, he may have a bad yeast infection which requires certain medication. He may need 2 take oral antibiotics also if the infection is really bad. Do him a favor and stop his painful ear by taking him 2 the vet as soon as u can so they can prescribe the right meds. Good Luck with ur staffie!

Take him to your vet. Make sure he really has ear mites and not another infection and get the correct medicine.

He may be powerful, but he is a DOG and you are the alpha. He must first understand this, or you cannot treat him.
Mite meds are available, but mineral oil does a very good job.
