Red Stripe is always my favorite. Really it depends on his style. Rather than buying the beer, you might think of going to a local micro-brewery and taking a beer tasting/tour. Then he can purchase or you can purchase a package of beer options at the end of the tasting....like a wine tasting. They are really cool and I think it would be a great gift. Good luck!

Any brew from New Belgium Brewing. The most popular is Fat Tire. If he likes something dark try 1554. A nice after dinner ale is the Abbey. If you're looking for something a little lighter, try the Skinny Dip beer.
Also, now that it is fall, there are several breweries that make a pumpkin ale. My favorite is Buffalo Bill's.

ICE HOUSE, Heinekein
It would be best to find out what his preference is. Most beer drinkers have a favorite and don't usually think about cost.

Modelo is always a plus. It gets you buzzed quickly. Brahmma beer is good but it is a bit girly.
