I'm just getting over a nasty cold, and as usual, I've got a cold sore starting up (in the regular spot I always get one, right at the base of my nose). Seeing as my family doctor is in my hometown about an hour away, and I don't have a prescription cold sore medicine on my file at the pharmacy, I thought I'd give Abreva a shot and see how it works.

So my question is....
Has anyone used Abreva for cold sore treatment, and was it effective?

I've used it. I get horrible cold sores. Abreva didn't do anything. It was very expensive. I might as well of not used anything because the cold sore lasted the same amount of time if I had not used it. I'd rather save my money and suffer because it's the same as buying Abreva but you have money left over.

Camphophenique (sp) at first tingle works like a charm. I tried Abreva once - but never bought it again. So, I'm thinking it didn't work as well as my old stand-by. Good luck!

i hate abreva! I easily have used it various cases and my sore gets worse earlier it gets extra desirable and that's not stable in my e book. I swear via white vinegar. positioned it on it as much as you may as quickly as you sense one coming. it dries it up very rapid!
