Anyone else work at a job with people who take the job WAYYYYYY to seriously? I work for 9 bucks an hour part time at a **** *** job to pay for college and some of the people their act like its the most important job in the world. It's NOT!!!

You must eventually realize that most people who are working, even in jobs such as you state, have more than just the obvious reason of needing a job as to why they work. Those that take pride in their work, whether it be taking out the trash, mopping the floor, flipping a burger, president of a company, whatever it may be; they also take pride in themselves and value the facts that they are able to work and contribute to society and their families. People that take pride in their work no matter what it may be will succeed in almost all aspects of their life and will go further than those who think 'this is not an important job'. Everyone has their own level of what is acceptable and you should not judge someone in a negative way if they believe their job is the most important job in the world. To them it is and you should respect them for their desire to succeed and surpass and their pride.

Yeah I have worked with people like that. It's because a lot of them don't have a life, and their main purpose in life becomes their job. Some of them are in their 40's and still live with their parents. They will work any day of the week and holidays. They never go on dates and rarely hang out with friends, if they have any. Some act like if they don't do their job the world will end. They don't realize it's just a store and if they leave they will hire someone else.

BUT maybe to them it is important !!
Everyone has their own opinions on what is important... perhaps some of these people need this job to survive.
I know where ever I use to work I had to do it humorously... some people won't even crack a smile, that just kills me... If I can't have fun on the job then the job is not worth doing !

actually some of the people i work with do not take there job serious enough.. they waste time and sit around when the boss is gone..sleep on the job.soak the time clock.. and now i know why it is hard to get a raise.... this job is important to me and i have pride in what i do...it don't matter what you do ..just do it to the best of your ability..

Mate... If it bugs you so much, have a bit of a chat to these "people" about WHY they take it so seriously...chances are what you hear may well change your entire attitude, and make you think yourself lucky you only need the nine bucks an hour for college.

It's all relative. At that pay rate, you're probably living under someone else's roof. To them, they most likely have mouths to feed, college funds to put money into.
Their jobs are more secure if they perform better than the next person.

well some people Have to work to survive...i have to work to pay my bills just to have somewhere to live...but i have good job and it is fun...i take alot of pride in my job.. it may not be the most important job in the world--but it is important to me.. you have to be able to enjoy your job and try to like most of the people there or at least put on the happy face while your there...
