My young son has this disorder. Since his diagnosis, I have made it my mission to advocate for him and to educate others. Tourettes is one of the most misunderstood conditions. It is the constant center of jokes, most of which are untrue. You can imagine how difficult this makes his life, not to mention the condition itself.
It's not funny. Do something positive. Go to this web site and donate some money for research!

I have a friend with Tourettes. At times his symptoms appear somewhat amusing but I often see that he becomes very frustrated. Not sure of what medications hes taking but they seem to help a lot when he takes them as prescribed.

Why do you ask such a dumb question? Who would want to have Tourette syndrome? You shouldn't even think about if it's funny or not....

Yes, my coworker had it and it was more embarassing for women in the office than for him- he was used to it. It was laughable- the comments were so crude- but we made light of it for his sake. He appreciated that we did not get offended the really, really awful statements encouraged by his obvious affliction. The poor man could not have a regular social life and really suffered- it wasn't funny at all. However, we did not treat him as a freak or a "victim" and, by chuckling at the comments, we included him in the group. After time, even we became used to the comments and failed to notice!

Yes, and no, I didn't think it was funny. I honestly felt bad for the person and wondered about the quality of life and how they get through the day, especially when they have to venture out in public.

Why yes I have, my brother. He is in his late 40's now and was finally diagnosed with it 5 years ago. I got to watch him be made fun of and emotionally and physically destroyed by people who made fun of him. He doesn't do the cussing thing though. He would do anything to be "normal". I hope you don't have this embarrassing and uncontrollable disorder.

No! That is terrible! They have a condition that they cannot control and I am sure they would rather live without it, but have no choice. There is nothing funny about that!

I know someone who has it. I'd never known he had it until my daughter told me. It wasn't noticeable.
