are all christians living a worthless life before? atheists seem to live normally even without a diety, but christians need something so that they can do good? cant they do better with a therapist? although i think a therapist is more expensive "in the short run"... not to mention most christians i know are poor and/or sick(or has a sick relative) and/or old and mosly female, is there a pattern there?

no offense meant so if you flame me, you'll be zipped

I do not need something to do good.

I do good because I know that my actions have an effect on things in this world that I cannot see.

I know that when I do something bad, it effects things that I will never know about.

It is the study of energy.

It is the study of quantum physics.

It is Science proving there is a God...

And there is an afterlife... you will experience it when you are there

Because you, like all of us, will die...

Luckily for you, Hell is not a real place...

It is a trick by the church to control the masses.

All souls wait for the end of time in Sheol...

No one is judged until the end...

God Bless You

And a therapist?!?! I can control my own mind. Never trust someone else to control your mind.

Okay so lets assume there is no afterlife and I have lived my life as a christian. I have tried to live by the ten commandments which include but are not limited to loving my neighbor and honoring my parents. I have given to the needy and the poor, opened my home to the homeless and tried to spread love to all around me. ...........Seems to me that my life has had a purpose. So even if my soul dies when my body does at lease I have left some good behind. What does that hurt?

I'll Answer the question, not the subtext as I'm not sure what you mean in it.

It doesn't matter whether there is or is not an afterlife, life still has meaning; a decent quality of life for all and the minimisation of suffering are still the most important things to aim for.

Why does not having an afterlife negate all the things we create during our lives?

For those of us with children we are leaving a legacy for future generations by teaching our children. That strikes me as meaningful.

Life is good here and in the afterlife. Do something with your life now, that way you will understand that life is a miracle any way you live it. YOUR ARE ALIVE ACT LIKE IT.

"There is no hell, and we're not entirely sure there's a heaven. The afterlife doesn't matter: once you're dead, you're dead and you can't do anything about it. What matters is how we act in this world, whether we choose to live our lives in harmony with universe to promote healing and unity, or whether we choose to live our lives in selfishness and discord." jewish beliefnet board. i think everybody can agree.

If there is no afterlife it makes this life infinitely more meaningful, because this is the only one you have.

Life has no meaning here if you are waiting for a "next" life. You choose to make this life meaningless if you approach it that way.

If there is no afterlife then this is the only life we will ever have, so it couldn't possibly be *more* meaningful.

Peace Be With You, You are entitled to your opinions and beliefs. I however disagree, I am a Christian and I live this life by my heart and my soul. I find it immmensely rewarding.
