If staying home with her isn't an option, or taking her with you, then I would have to say that the only option left is to let her cry it out. She will, eventually, learn that the crying isn't getting her what she wants, and will stop.

She should try to do this more gradually. A child who has never been left with somebody else will often react like this when it's the first time, and all day long.

This is one reason why Kindergarten has traditionally been 1/2 days. Children don't adapt easily to these kinds of drastic changes in their lives. Would you?

I suggest postponing that full day stuff until the child is ready for it, if you can. In the meantime, start leaving the child with a babysitter occasionally, to get the child more accustomed to this. Work part time for awhile, perhaps.

Some ages are a very bad time for this, because of their mental development. The child may be at an age where there is already a problem with "separation anxiety." After a month or so, the child may be more able to adapt.

If you mean your child cries all day at daycare while you are gone then that is a very big sign that something is happening at daycare.

When a child is abused at a day care (from ignoring the child to abusing the child) then the first sign is crying non stop.

It is normal for a child to cry when taken to day care, but you should be able to say good bye, hide around a corner and hear them stop in a few minutes.

I would do some researching into the daycare and change all together if you have even the slightest feeling that something isnt right.

I guess I'd have to look at who I was leaving my child with...why does she cry? Is she scared of this person? If not then she probably needs to be told constantly that you will be back for her. I feel for both of you, I know how she feels, I was the same way when my mom would leave, but she has to learn...I had a hard time going to my first day of school, I was so attached to my mom & being at home. I also know how you feel, I'm now a mother of two and my youngest son, hates when I leave. He's ok with his Dad, but his Aunt has a hard time looking after him, because he crys for his momma! So I guess you should put her in a place where she feels safe & knows who she's with. Also socialize her more, get her involved with other kids or just be around people.

You need to find out if the child is being abused. To open of a question. If my child cried all day I would not leave them with that sitter. If the child is not sick there has to be another reason to cry.

Nothing cause she cant do anything if she isnt there. Maybe the question to ask is why does the child cry? And try to figure this out to get some sort of solution to the problem.

Where is the child? Is she overtired? Does mom make a big deal of leaving? How many days in a row has this happened?

oh man, i watched a kid once who's mother went to work and he cried and banged his head on the wall for a half hour straight. she stayed at work and he finally went to sleep. I hope my kid doesnt turn out to be a momma's boy. I want him to take after his father and take over the center.

Try giving her a special sweater (that you wear so it has your smell) that she can hold on to when you leave. Maybe your scent will soothe her until you return.
