why would he watch his son be tortured and killed before he decides to forgive you all your sins? and if he lets his son get all that disrespect and torture and be killed how do you think he will be merciful to you IF NOT TO HIS OWN SON?

and if Jesus was god himself why does he need all that to happen to him before he forgive you?

I believe that God is the most merciful so I can't believe this is what really happened.

I like the sense in the answer of the CHILD AND THE RANSOM but the ransom was money not a human being! God knows best about human rights I'd say! He wouldn't burden only one person with the sins of humanity. espcially if that person was his son.

God let a sin "of killing" happen to erase the sins of humanity? sins erase sins?

Atonement has always been derived by sacrifice of pure blood. Jesus was the Lamb without spot. There was no other sacrifice that would save us our sins. God created Jesus as man. He did not have to. He provided the sacrifice for our sins because He loves us and has, from the time of Adam and Eve, created man to commune, walk with, Him. I don't understand why this is so difficult to get if you have read the Bible without prejudice. It is plausible. It makes sense that a loving God would provide the sacrifice necessary for His people to return to Him.

Hypothetical analogy:
I have a child because I want that child. I want the child to love me because the child chooses to. I don't expect the child to love me simply because I gave birth to the child.

I raise the child up, keeping the child safe and providing all the instruction I can to help the child prosper.

The child is kidnapped because the child wanders away from me at Sax.

I receive the ransom note.

Can the child provide the ransom?

I pay the requested amount so the child will be returned unharmed.

The kidnapper says he wants more money.

Do I sacrifice more ransom or not? Of course I do. I love the child and would sacrifice whatever I had on the chance that the child will return to me.

Because everyday, we are tortured and killed too.

Jesus was human and he was an example of what the perfect Christian was. (perfection not in our 21st century standards, but perfection meaning God-like)

The perfect Christian would be tortured and even die for their faith.

They would stand up and say what they believed in no matter what the earthly costs.

This is why God let his son die for our sins.

To show us that no matter the outcome, suffering or death, it cannot kill our soul, if we believe in what created our soul. (GOD!)

And God decided to forgive us before Jesus died.

But the world was changing... because it was getting older human sin was compiling due to time.

God had to find a way to make it easier to practice our faith.

Because sin was getting older. So people were getting lazier and more wicked and are continuing to do so today as time progresses.

God knew that generations and generations of sinning over time changed humans.

And so he made it the easiest it could be.

Because he knew we would be faced with today.

Where technology is screaming in your face soooo loudly, that we can barely even here the voice of God. We are too distracted. And we want to be distracted from the horrors of this world.

So he sent his Son. To set us free. So that you didn't have to sacrifice a bull whenever you lied. Because you wouldn't do that. No one would.

And he knew that.

The best way to find the answer to your question is to develop a personal realtionship with God through his word and prayer. The truth is that Jesus was God in the flesh and God himself chose to die to pay the penalty of sin for those who accept him. Now you wish to know why? The why is that God is perfect and God cannot join himself with sin although his creation is sinful and he loved us inspite of this the penalty for sin is death it is simply the ay it is God chose to pay the penalty for you so that you could be joined to him. The reason for atonement as oposed to simple forgiveness is that forgiveness is to say that which is wrong is ok which would make God imperfect. The fact is God knew all of these things before he created man and had a plan for him from the creation of the world. And that plan was Jesus Christ.

I like to think of it like this...When God was unhappy with humankind in the Old testament times He was kinda harsh--you know, all those floods, locusts and killing the first born and all. He was getting fed up with all the sinning and was getting ready to give up on us when his Son says "Hey Daddy-O, let me go down and talk some sense into them..." God says "Sure Jesus, give it a try" Jesus was born to this world of flesh and blood and human frailty. Living as a human gave Him a chance to understand ,love and teach us. And it gave God a new love for us. Jesus taught us by His parables what kind of life God the Father wanted us to live. God thought that Jesus did a great job and it was a good start ...but what about the sins? These people who He so carefully crafted and loved were such sinners! How could He forget all the sins and grant them a place in heaven? God was saying "They must pay for their sins"... Jesus says "No problemo Dad--it's on me. I'll pay the price.I'll pick up the tab." And God so loved the world He gave His only son so that we may have eternal life. God was in anguish seeing His Son suffer
but I think He also must have been so proud of Jesus.
Jesus KNEW what He was doing. His crucifixion was horrific-no doubt about it. It makes me want to cry that someone would endure that for my sake..His love for us was so great that He knew that He would endure anything for our salvation. "There's no greater love than to lay down your life for a friend." That's what Jesus did for you and me. He's our ticket to heaven. Paid for in full. God's no welcher.

From what I have always been told, and from what I understand, God gave all people free will. Which means that the people who tortured Jesus, then nailed him to the cross, were practicing their own free will. And I too believe that God is most merciful, but he also gives us all the right to do and believe as we wish. And then judges us according to our actions...

I'd hate to say it, but you not believing is making Jesus' suffering in vain. if you want to know more about God, try reading the book he wrote. he's merciful, yes, but he has to punish sin. Bible says, "he became sin for us". think about it and then trust Christ as your own personal savior

I think it's a fair enough question.

Jesus is God incarnate in a man. God needs all this to happen because He cannot lie. Once He says something it is done. God gave dominion over the earth to man, but Adam gave that dominion to the devil when he disobeyed God and ate the fruit. Technically God can do anything He wants, but that means His word wouldn't always be true because it could change. So that's why God couldn't just take dominion back from the devil, because it was no longer His to give. The devil got that dominion from the owner--man. Only a man could get it back, but not any man a perfectly righteous man--Jesus Christ. In order to take this dominion back Christ had to become sin. On the cross, Christ was sin and God poured out 4000 years of wrath on that sin. When Jesus rose again, He defeated death and took back our dominion.

So whats the catch? Every person is born under the original sin of Adam...that means they are under the devil's dominion. Only when you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, confess and repent from all of your sins, and are baptized do you die from under the devil's dominion (original sin) and are born again under Jesus' dominion (salvation).

The Bible said:"the wages of sin is death ,but the gift of GOD
is everlasting life Thru JESUS CHRIST. Without Christ ,We are all dead before GOD because of our(human) nature. a sinner.
John 3;16- For GOD so love US ALL To give HIS ONLY AND BEGOTTEN "SON" into Death into Torture and Insults .To put HIMSELF into a very sad and horrifying situation seing HIS SON Murdered Because of our sins. But this is the only WAY to make the BRIDGE from Us Sinners to Our HOLY GOD.

Before Jesus died on the cross, how did the people recieve forgiveness? What they did was acounted to them, for rogiveness. Jesus had to become 100% man so that He could experience all that we do, and overcome it. otherwise we could have no victory over sin in our lives.
