I'd like to know the details - were you the only person being searched, how many guards, knees together or apart, visual inspection only or was there a manual check, too, etc...

No but I've got stuck on "booty duty" more times than I cared to and I've had to ask them to squat and cough. The reason is so if they are packing anything in there it will come out. Actually it's more like bend over, spread your cheeks and cough. It's only a visual check. A intrusive cavity search has to be done by a medical professional.

strip search.

you are told to take your clothes off and hand the clothes to the officer ( normally at least two officers and in prison can be a dozen inmates at a time being strip searched if they were on a work detail or visitation. And yes they are all in the same room being striped at the same time.)

The clothes are searched first, making sure nothing is in them.

They are told to hold thier arms out, hands open and slowly turn around. If more than one, you do one at a time.

They are told to open thier mouths and stick out thier tounges

( I have only done males) they are told to lift thier privates and seperate

They are told to bend over at the waste and run thier hands though thier hair. ( an officer may with gloves on, run his hands also though the hair if it is thick or ethnic that allows things to be hidden)

They are told to turn around so thier back to toward an officer, and lift one foot at a time, seperating the toes.

They are told to bend over and place thier hands on thier rear and spread thier checks apart so any object may be visiable.

They are then handed thier clothes and told to get dresses.

No squat and cough and I learned and did the procedure in Federal arrests, and several different states.

** overall general procedure I may have left out some smaller details

No, Im not sure but from the sounds of it the purpose is to search for things hidden inside of you like they hide in jail. You know. This is my best explanation.

Never been strip searched; never been searched. Never would be in the position, excuse the expression, where I'd have to be searched.
