I need to find out why a certain Michigan resident was arrested and sent to jail for three months this week. Is there a police site that lists all arrests?

Actually, yes, there is a website through The Michigan Department of Corrections. It's http://www.michigan.gov/corrections/0,1607,7-119-1409---,00.html

You can search arrest records by name of offender. However, if it just happened this week, your person might not yet be in the database. Also, people are not updated into the database until they have been sentenced.

When on the search page where you enter the person's name, be sure to also change the Offender Status to 'ALL' (It will otherwise only give you active offenders).

You can also search sex offenders at http://www.mipsor.state.mi.us/

Good luck!

There is no comprehensive site that lists ALL arrests. Best bet is to contact Police Dept. or whichever agency did the arresting.

You can also try the local website of such agencies, SOME not all, but some do list their "activities".

Other avenues: try to find out the jurisdiction of the arrest and there should be a record within the courts showing arraignment or contact local sheriff's or State police to inquire about warrants for this person.

It's a matter of public record. Call the police department and ask.
