First you gotta make sure the person even needs a defibulator. Check to make sure whether they are breathing or not. If you determine that they in fact do need one you take off shirt including bra for females. Turn it on wait for it to tell you what to do. apply pads in the correct places. Wait for the machine to tell you what to to next. Then hit the shock button and make sure you are CLEAR. The machine will tell whether or not to shock again.

If you are talking about defibulators made for hospital/doctor's use, DO NOT USE IT. As a non-licensed consumer, you are not even supposed to own such devices. In many states, owning, selling, or worse using such devices when you are not trained to do so is illegal. You can easily kill the person you are trying to save.

If you are talking about some of the small automated devices marketed for consumer use, then simply read the instructions. Basically, place the pads, push the button. The machine will determine if the person needs shock, then it will administer it.

This is really not something you should be asking on public forum. It literally a matter of life and death.

You can take it to a fire station and EMT can show you how to use it. (if you are talking about the consumer type)

The best advice I can give you to learn how to use a defibrillator is to read VERY carefully the manufacturer's instructions (even though most on the market are similar) and go take a CPR class. You'll learn in depth how to use one, and you'll be better prepared in case you even need to.

Just like a guy, won't look at the directions. Look at the manual and it will tell you, but you're SOL if you need it and no one knows how to use it.
