I couldn't think of any better category to put this under.
My daughter is going to be 18 in December and for her birthday she is going to get a tatoo.
I'm 38 and I was considering getting a tatoo when she gets her's.
I just wanted opinions...do you think 38 is too old to get a tatoo? Would it be wierd if I got one?

First of all, I think being 38 is defiantly not too old for having a tattoo. I think it is sexy if a woman that age has one. Also, I think that you should get one on your waist-line on your back. I personally like a tribal design. Me personally, think that that is very sexy. If you don't like that area, consider maybe a rose or a heart, or whatever you like on the breast. Something that will be visible. Don't get it right next to your nipple. Something that will be visible with a nice top.

Hey! It is your body do what you want. I think that you are only as old as you feel, so if you wanna feel young and get a tatoo, get a tatoo. There are no age limits and you can have something that is meaningful to you. I would not go and get a guy's name or anything, but maybe your daughter's name or maybe a small animal or something. It is really up to you in the end, so have fun! And good luck!

Youre never too old.
But remeber this:"If you get a tattoo then get a second, you will come back for a third"
I personally don't think you too old to get a tatto my gramps was 62 when he got his first.
Just make sure it's something you willl like,
or ask the people at the tatoo shop for a 2 year or 5 year tatoo.
They come off in five or two years! :D

no, i don't think 38 is too old. have you always wanted a tat?
you only live once, so think of something at least a little meaningful and go with it.

is you daughter cool with you getting one at the same time and at the same place as her and on her birthday? remember- at that age she's still trying to distance herself from parental control (though you sound like a pretty easy going mom). just make sure you're not "stealing her thunder".

good luck!

Only if you look in the mirror, and are unsatisfied should you change your body by going through pain!

Since you are inflicting the pain on yourself, before and then after when that didn't work and you can't get rid of it, will you seek something else....

And then something else....and age has nothing to do with your search....are you your daughter, and are you as dissatisfied with yourself as your daughter is....at least she can justify it on immaturity.

Perhaps you need more in life, but you want someone to call you a name........ok then, I'll call you a name.

I'll call you AWESOME just the way you are, and if you want a change, try the removable tatoo's, so when you're bored with it you can change at your whim and desire.

I want your opinion, what do you really want, what is more of you that's trying to become more awesome...think again...what or where do you want to go and grow into?

Best of luck, and that's again a name I'll call you "Lucky Awesome"! ...beeeeee yourself!

My mother got her first tatoo at 40 and she loves it. i think its because she thought about what she wanted and was ready to live with it for the rest of her life. We all have the same tatoo...it says thru thick and thin in chinesse. I think its great you want to do this with her just make sure you research the place you go to and think really long and hard about what you are putting on your body because its going to be there forever. good luck!!!

i dont think you're ever too old to get a tattoo. im 30 and i have 5 and i plan on getting more. i love tattoos if they are done right and put in the right place. all mine are small and strategically placed so i only show them when i want to. my advice would be that if you do get one, by all means, get one that means something, get it small, and put it somewhere it can be hidden when needed AND where it wont stretch in another 10-20 years. A "LITTLE ROSE" ON YOUR UPPER BREAST WONT LOOK SO LITTLE IN 10 YEARS. i strongly recommend another location. good places are the back of your shoulder, on your ankle (inner or outer), back of the neck, top of the foot. all of these places are concealable and stretch-proof. also, all of my tats have a meaning. they all mark certain times in my life that i will always remember. maybe you could get her name and the date you get it. the people that regret getting tats are the people that got them without putting much thought into them; like a corporate woman getting a scull and crossbones on her forearm after the annual company christmas party. of course shes gonna regret that!

38 is not too old. I have one tattoo and my only suggestion is to really think about what you want and put it someplace where not everyone can see it. I have a tattoo on my lower back, but not what most people have these days. Mine is over a surgery scar and it's very unique. I love it because no one else has it. Email me if you want to see a pic.

It's not wierd. Everyone feels differant about tatoo's. Myself i would never have one. If your not sure? Please don't do it. I know too many women who were sorry they did it. One girl i knew has them on both upper arms. And now that she is older she can't wear an evening gown. And if she decided to have removed she would be left with scars.
Have a nice weekend.

No age is 'too old' to get a tattoo. As for anyone who thinks they're, ahem, "hideous", you're entirely clueless and need to consider becoming cultured. I wouldn't be weird if you got a tattoo at age 38, I mean, as long as you don't do anything like Mike Tyson and get a tribal on your face. THAT would be weird. If you want to do it, do it.
