No, not really. It is just how you feel, and if you want your daughter to date the right man, you will say so. Now, if she is over 18, then you really don't have too large of a say in what she can and cannot do. Black men are the same as white men, Japanese men, you get the picture. I know that some black men have an attitude that is slightly 'Gangter', but not all. Look at it this way, It's just the skin color. Would you like your daughter to date a Japanese or white pimp? I think not. It just depends on the personality. Skin is skin. Personality goes way beyond skin.
You can help your daughter by explaining the way that you feel. Nothing can change the way you feel.
Good luck with your daughter, and hang in there.Hope my answer helped you.

To me and you no.. its simply that you want the best for you daughter. But that is only to say that you are thinking of blacks as a whole and that is racist. Im gonna bet that if she brought home Tiger Woods you wouldnt have much to complain about. Its more of who the person is than his color. Is that correct? Because if its different than that then Id have you say that you are leaning towards being racist. BUT then as weve all learned that the more you push a person, no matter a child or an adult, away from something the more they lean and fight for it. So if you push too hard you may end up with a worse circumstance than you think right now. Just let her make the best decision she can.

Yes, technically, it is racist, because you are making a character judgement based solely on race/skin color. Sorry, but you'll just have to face it - you have a racial prejudice.

Try to remind yourself that not all black people are the same (just like all Japanese people you know are not the same!). Nice and mean and safe and dangerous and good and bad can be found in all groups. Try to clarify what you REALLY want her to avoid - "honey, I don't want you dating a gangster, but a nice intelligent boy from chess club or the debating team would be great."

Little bit. Our nationality does not really represent the kind of person someone is on the inside. You should want your daughter to date someone that treats her like a princess.

Most parents would prefer that their child date someone of his or her own race and my mother feels the same way. You cannot however control your daughters preferences. You can only teach her to make good judgements and decisions and hope that no matter what race the person she dates is, he treats her right.

Yes and it is not your life, she can date whoever she wants to. Its okay to have high standards for her, like not dating a bumb, but just b/c you are black doesn't mean that you are a bumb or something. There are plently of intellectual black men out there who don't steal to make a living.

It is racist, but also your right to feel that way. Try to realize though, that color has nothing to do with anything. I am white and have black, Mexican, and Asian relatives that have become part of my family by marriage. They are just like me on the inside. Just different skin color.

What's the reason? If u want her to date another japanese only, it's acceptable, if it's because he's black, of course it's racism.

Yes it is... but I think I know why your suggesting that. I don't think your daughter could handle a black man anyway. Its ok... some black men are "blessed" I'll say... she need to be experienced to mess with something like that. So, in that sense... I feel you!...lol.
