every child is different...but my daughter is 16 months and only has 6 teeth and can "gum" solid foods just fine. i told them when i first took her to day care because she didn't have a lot of teeth and they needed to watch her closely while eating and so far there haven't been any issues. i don't think he's too young for the nuggets or smiley faces, they are pretty soft so i think it's safe...but if you have a problem with it you should definitely tell them, since you pay them to watch and protect your child.

*ignore the ignorant comments... everyone is not rich or in the position to watch their child themselves, some of us do have to work for a living..life and bills and circumstances do go on even though we have kids*

I would not have given that to an 11 month old that is way to big to give. I have a 10 month old and he still has trouble with his chewy baby food. He also has 8 teeth. Next time tell the nursery to call you about something like that.

I am an MD. It is not too young for chicken nuggets. After age 6 months, any food that you eat can also be consumed by a 6 month old, as long as they can chew it and swallow it. I presume there was no trouble due to the feeding of these foods, right? However, you might wonder about the use of fast food for lunch at your nursery. Maybe something not so fried would have been better?

Well how well can your son control his eating using his tongue and swallowing ? Each little one is different and at that age some children eat tat sort of food just fine but other not so. My grandchildren ate chicken nuggets but with close supervision.
If you feel unsure get him some and you try feeding it to him an see how he does and if you are.nt comfortable then tell the caregiver about your concerns .Hes your child and you need to fell comfortable .

I wouldn't say that he's too young to be eating that solid of food but chicken nuggets and smily faces are not healthy foods so I wouldn't recommend continuing down that path.

According to jamie oliver no matter what age your kids are they shouldn't be eating stuff like that they should be eating healthy food.

Parents have powers and while i respect that you have to work you should consider consulting your nursery and asking if they have a healthier alternative; start now while he is young because when he is older if he lives on junk and processed food he will have health problems

Can he chew his food? Chicken nuggets fall apart easily, they are made from ground up chicken. I'm not sure what smiley faces are. If your child is not able to chew his food then you need to let the nursery know that, and tell them to give him cereals and foods that don't need to be chewed.

No! As long as they cut it up into small pieces...Mine has been eating solids since she was 6 months, and she only has 4 teeth now at 10 months. I would be a little upset that they are feeding your child such junk though...

Each child is different. Mine would have been able to eat nuggets at that age..but am sure other children wouldnt have been able to.
As long as they are being watched while they eat..it shouldnt be a problem.

my kids were eating lots of things at that age. chicken nuggets are fine. you just have to watch the child don't take off big chunks, but that's goes for most foods at that age.
