Yeah it's a lot like Islam. It changed Christianity and makes all kinds of new claims, and allows multiple wives, and is opressive to women. Joseph Smith and Mohammed and David Koresh are perfect examples of what Jesus was talking about when he talked about many false prophets coming and they'll seem like peaceful sheep but inside theyre really just wolves. Some say there was an Atlantis long ago. And travel across
the Atlanitc Ocean wasn't that difficult.
Supposedly, some Hebrew people came to America long before Columbus. Many others have, like Egyptians, and Vikings.
The Book of Mormon is like the Bible, about the experiences of
those Hebrews.
I have heard that they have found Hebrew pottery and things in America. And once, they found a stone with some writing on
it. As the man tried to read it, another man came up from the
otherside and said, "That's Hebrew!" The stone was found
in America.
I don't know about the Mormon faith, or how it has progressed. I heard a little long ago. The old, only Mormons will make it, so
I didn't read further. I'm sure they have matured some by now.
Did you know there is a Book from Ethiopia that the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon had a son? And that's why
some Africans say they are Jews? It's the Kebra Negast.

The Book of Mormon is belived to be another testament of Christ. It's the accountings of Jesus Christ coming to the Americas. When Jesus was resurrected but then for 3 days was gone, and told Mary he had other flocks to visit, Mormons belive this is when he came to the Americas. The Native Americans talked of a white God who visited them when the early settlers frist came here, and it's belived by Mormons that Jesus was who they were talking about.

AS far as calling the LDS/Mormon church a cult, it depends on waht your definition of a cult is. Most, if not all religions fall under that category if you read the actual definition of a cult. But I think most people consider a group a cult when they break away from society and practice things such as polygamy. If that's somewhere near your definiton then no it's not a cult. There are over 12 million members worldwide. They do not practice polygamy, although some early members of the church did until the church spoke out against it. Members work regular jobs, and dont look different than anyone else. They go to church on Sundays and read the Bible. Now the group Warren Jeffs was running, that are sometimes referred to as "fundamentalist mormons" fit most anyone's definition of a cult.

The Book of Mormon is a bridge to make it easier for people to enter into Mormonism. It sounds a lot like the Bible, but when you get more into the cult, it moves away from Biblical Christianity.
