All branches of the military might be required to take a life at one time or another. It's a killing business at times of war. So if it's against your faith, then don't join any of them.......

I have been in the navy, I only know about the navy, and I couldn't say which branch you should join. You see, the military itself is here to defend freedom here and abroad, so it possible that any branch may require you to make the ultimate sacrifice or take a life. But there are different jobs in each of theses branches that you could be trained for that will not put you in harms way or put you in a situation where you would have to make that life or death decision. If you want to join the service for education or a chance to see the world, Then I would recommend the navy.

If you choose the right rate you can make it work in any area of the military. If you want to go religious, or medical you are most likely gonna help save lives and not take them. Outside of that I think Navy would be yor best bet because aside from a few of the pilots most sailors are support men and not lead combat man.
as for the Coast Guard they are a weird area but they do not qualify for most military things. It's a weird grayish thing.
As I tell anyone who is considering a military life the truest best way to decide is sit down with the web sites, a recruiter or two and if possible an active service member.
Good luck with your choice.

The navy would probably have less direct contact with the enemy, or the air force. This is not to say that a ship you are on, can't lob naval gunfire at the bad guys and kill them all. You might feel that you are guilty by association, under these circumstances. The same thing holds true with the air force.

You might consider becoming a navy hospital corpsman. This is one of the most respected jobs in the navy/Marine Corps service that I could recommend. Generally, it is not a combat job, although you could find yourself in a combat situation especially if you got assigned to a Marine combat unit. Even then, your main job is not as combatant, it is to care for and treat the injured, sick, and wounded!

Many religious people have entered the military, and in all branches. Each base has religious services available. I have had many members of my family in the military, and most have liked it. It all depends on what you are looking for. Typically, the Marines are the first to go in to combat (and has the longest basic training), and the Navy provides the transportation, so they are frequently there, too. The Air Force has the shortest basic traning, is very family-oriented, and tends to have better facilities and food.

My advice to you is to talk to your religious leader about the military, as well as contact recruiters for each branch. There is currently a high demand, and the monetary rewards for joining are great, not to mention the chance to have college paid for!
Good luck.

If your going to join, go into the Air Force, its the best way to go. I was going to join the military right out of High School and so I did my "Homework", and after my own conclusion and help from my father it came down to the Air Force, my father worked with some people who were in the army, navy and the marines, and they all told my father to tell me to join the Air Force so if that does not help then I do not know what will. I did not end up joining because I have asthma, and the Air Force would not except me and my doctor would not write me off as ok to join. So thats why I never went just in case you were wondering.

In any branch of the armed services, there may be a time you'll have to make a decision-my life or the enemies' and they won't have any qualms about taking you out.
The good thing is, you may never see a combat zone- you may be selected to serve in a support unit or something of that nature. There are many jobs in the military that don't require an active role in combat, so you may never even be faced with having to take a life.Best wishes in the future!

All branches have jobs that will not put you in the position of having to take a life, but by joining you are in a position of supporting the troops who do. Think hard if this is truely the life you wish to lead. One place you may want to consider is chaplin services. While you may get deployed to combat areas, you will be there to support the troops,, emtionally as well as spiritually. But to do this job, you have to be able to work with people of other faiths and support them in their chosen spirituality. You will not have a choice about which soldiers to comfort.

I personally was in the Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician 2nd Class for F14's...... never killed a soul......, the Airforce will probably be the job with the least amount of physical exertion.....in order from least to most physical, i would say Airforce, Navy ,Army, and the Marine Corp.

All branches will allow you to keep your faith; no questions asked. However, the military is here to support our Constitution and in doing so, fight our nations wars. War is a reality that isn't going away anytime soon. If this jeopardizes your moral beliefs, there are many different ways to serve our country. The military may not be the way.
