"DO"? I mean, what do you think you can or should "DO"?
Sit around crying? Talk about him all day? Expect a gift anyway? Call him and say "It's my birthday"?

There's nothing you can "DO" but continue living your life, celebrate your birthday and move on.

Happy Birthday. You can still enjoy the day by spending it with family and friends that care about you. You didnt say the reason why you guy broke up. I am sure your not shallow enough just to want a gift because you dont seem upset about the break up just upset that he isnt getting you a gift. Maybe thats the reason this guy broke up with you(your materialist). I am sure you mentioned that your birthday was coming(a lot) and he sensed that you would rather have a gift than the most precious gift you could have( a friend and a man that loves you is priceless worth more than a gift you get out the store)

+ Sounds like you just wanted a present. Do you mean that it would be OK if he waited until two weeks after your birthday? I think you should be a little less materialistic then maybe he would not have broken up with you. Some people do not celebrate their birthdays with anything other than a card and perhaps going out to dinner. It is one of the hard things about dating. He may have felt pressure about how you think things should be done and worried about not being able to make you happy.

I hope you don't expect some one to stay with you just because it's your birthday. That's quite selfish and childish. Who cares. If some one breaks up with you then they break up with you. What you do is go out and have a kick *** time on your birthday. 8 months is really a very short relationship. It shouldn't be too hard for you to get over it.

Just a thought, don't hold me on this, but I had a bf like this. See if he wants you back after your birthday. If he does, he was getting out of a present. Cheap creep! Just see if he does that. Have yourself the best birthday you can and I'm sorry he is a jerk.

I hate to break this to you (no pun intended) - but break-ups have nothing to do with a date on the calendar. They happen when things aren't working out - which can happen anytime. Consider your a birthday a time of renewal, rebirth and a fresh new beginning.
Good Luck!

Do what I did, I called all my friends, we all went out on the town and had a blast. Girls friends are the very best people to be around (usually) after a break up. They'll get you through it. And, you'll probably have a better time with them anyway.

Don't worry. He'll get back with you soon afterwards. It is just an easy way to get out of the whole "gift" thing. It is pretty common with guys under 30. Watch out for the holidays also...but you should be pretty safe for Valentines Day.
