It depends on the bread, really. Sometimes it's still ok after the best part of a week - though getting a bit stale - other times it's going mouldy after a couple of days.

I can't wait till they bring in the legislation that abolishes the requirement to make it in 400g and 800g quantities. Sometimes half a dozen slices is all you want, and the manufacturers won't need to use so many preservatives.

Yes, you should be bothered by that. Your bread must be full of preservatives. Can't be good for you!

Whole meal bread lasts a couple of days up till a week.

I want to get your kind of bread. Mine never lasts until I finish a loaf. I'm always throwing out several slices that have gone moldy. What brand do you use?

Wonder is probably full of preservatives. Try a bread from the bakery inside your local grocer or Whole Foods.

Well, when I made baguettes in my baking class, they contained flour, water, yeast, and salt.

Looking on the ingredients of this bread I bought at the store, there's things like calcium sulfate, azodicarbonamide, ascorbic acid, calcium peroxide, calcium propionate, sodium benzoate, alpha tocopherol... There's even more! I don't feel like typing anymore.

Yeah, it's just a little creepy.

Hmmmm... I must be buying the wrong bread! I can never get mine eaten up fast enough before it's stale.

I heard white bread stays in your body longer than wheat bread. =)

I don't know where you live, but my bread only lasts about a week before going bad, unless I have it in the freezer or refrigerator.
