Have you ever seen the Elfa closet systems? I like using them because they're easy. You use screws and anchors to attach one horizontal track high up on the wall, and that's the only part that requires tools. You then hang slotted vertical steel bars, and the shelf brackets/rod holders hook onto those vertical bars.

They are sold in different places like the Container Store (probably on line as well.) Container store puts them on sale pretty often, so don't pay full price.

There is another good brand called Closet Maid. On their web site you can use a program to plan your space. You enter your dimensions and it shows you the options. http://www.closetmaid.com/Design/Visual_Storage_Planner/index.cfm

Walmart has a good selection for this. On television, they have a vaccuum packed storage organizer that was really cool. I too am making space in the closets but, I haven't cleaned them out yet to do so. I am in need of the storage kit for the hall closet. Good luck and God Bless
