Nope...the child knows right from wrong...and knows a gun is wrong.

I think the child should be forced to live in the house of the victims for 180 days...

away from his own family...watching them grieve the loss of the one he shot...

yes parents need to be held responsible to a point.

for example if a parent keeps a gun in the house, that is not locked up and the kid takes it to school. then it is the parents fault for not locking up the gun.

but then you could look at it this way.... the parents are out of town for the weekend. they leave their teen age kids home alone. they are 17 or so. the kids drink the bottle of vodka or such and get really drunk and drive and cause an accident....

now who's fault is. a kid needs to be taught right from wrong, but that does not mean they are going to make the best choices in life.

it is always easier to put the blame on someone else.

no parent should not be held responsible for all of their childrens actions..

Parents of small children need to be held accountable, however when the child has grown up, and is a teenager who won't listen anyway because they already know it all anyway, then no. The reason being, is that by that time, they know what is right and what is wrong, acceptable and what's not. And if their parent were behind them at that moment, they would have gotten a swift kick where the sun don't shine. Kids now a days need to learn to be held accountable for their actions, or they will spend all their adult life in the blame game.

Maybe to a certain extent..It depends on what the home life is like. Sometimes you have good parents that tried, but their children are incapable of living normal lives, and other times children can act out because of trauma or abuse at home. But at 18 you are concidered an adult so then you are responsible for yourself. The shooter should definatly be punished or sentanced.

yes because parents need to talk to their children so they don't go out and shoot someone. I think your parents are responsible for the way you spelled "thir", it is spelled "their".

Yes, I think parents that have children that do not mind, should take the childs punishment, when those children hurt someone else, because those kids parents, didn`t teach thise kids any better, most of the time its lazy parents.

Well in the first place the gun should not have been where the child could get ahold of it, so I guess you can blame the parents for not leaving it under lock and key

Well, I think so because that parent is supposed to raise their child properly and teach them right from wrong. If the child is over 18, then you don't have to take responsibility for any of their actions....unless you told them to or you caused it.

Yes, because the parents aren't paying attention to what the kid is doing obviously. Like WHERE did the kid get the gun to begin with?
