I'm Catholic, myself, but I don't fault you for choosing another path, if it gives you true spiritual fulfillment. The Church might think it's wrong, but be true to your own inner guidance, and seek the will of God.

It is wrong to be a Catholic and stay a Catholic if you do not sincerely believe in the faith and do not cope up to the teachings of the church.
It is not wrong to change your faith if you find the other religion more acceptable for you to practice what you believe in. There is no powerful truth but your own.
Although, being raised as a Cathloic or any religion thereof does not necessarily make one as such unless he practice his faith with his firm belief. You may have been baptized to the faith but that was when you were still a baby and does not know about it. Your age of confirmation is still considered too young to make a mature decision as to what faith do you really want to choose. So, unless you are very certain, you can make your choice and there is nothing wrong with that.

If you were baptized Catholic and raised in the faith, it's a shame you were never able to make the logical and faith connections that are necessary to understand all the truths of Roman Catholicism.
The fact that you're wondering about it may be a response to God's grace.
Now that you have experienced something else, why not undertake a top-down review of all Catholic faith principles, beliefs, and practices.
That's the only way to find out if you truly did something wrong.

I understand your internal conflict as I was raised catholic and was very afraid of differnt religions. I started reading the bible on a daily basis and, for me, the catholic church had some contradictions to the bible to the point I could not go there with a clear conscience. I happily joined a baptist church and enjoy my relationship with Christ. This is a personal decision and only prayer and the word of God can truly answer this question for you.

Asking this question means that you are still quite young. I think it wise not to let personalities influence you in the choice of religion. Often one likes or dislikes a particular priest, rabbi or minister and so can be influenced by the person. Remember that there are kind and good in every religion and keep focused on the reason for practising a particular faith.

if your faith is now stronger and your relationship with Christ is stronger then - God bless you! I am a practicing Catholic and do not feel your choice was incorrect for you. Myself, i still learn and like all practicing Catholics do NOT worship the Virgin Mary - no matter how many times others who do not know about the religion like to post to the contrary.

I too was born and raised in Catholicism. Both my parents were. Mother is still, Father passed away. I myself, no longer practice the act of attending mass on a regular basis, however, this does not that I should not have something to believe in. Regardless, it be the act of being a practicing Catholic or Buddhist or baptist or Jew or even Mother Nature. We should all have something to believe in. --So for me, "No, I do not believe you are wrong in doing that", but I am also not one to judge. Nor should others judge you for your beliefs.

If you went to another world religion (EG:Islam, Judaism, Buddhism) you are getting into deep trouble because youre denying Jesus. If you stayed in the family of Christianity and simply found another CHURCH, good for you, Catholicism is a theological dinosaur and have many apostate doctrines like praying to Mary and thinking that Church tradition is as authoritative as Scripture.
I suggest a non-denominational church that is following SCRIPTURE and not the traditions of men.

Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
1 Thessalonians 5:21 Test all things; hold fast what is good.
Study His word, you will know your answer!

Religion of any kind does not save us. Jesus is the sacrifice that God made for us for the forgiveness of our sins. Jesus is the only way to God.
We are born with a sinful nature because of Adam and Eve's disobedience to God. There is nothing that we can do to earn salvation. Not being good. Not even religion.
Acceptance of Jesus, as your Lord and Savior, repentance (turning away from) of sins, and a personal relationship with Him is the only way for us to come back to God. Jesus is God's sacrifice for us.
Jesus is God in the flesh Jesus lived, suffered and died, and now lives again. He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
To find a congregation that preaches this, would be very helpful to you.
