I blush a lot and get shy easily. It is annoying. What are some good tactics to block the shy monster?

I have no idea how old you are but my step daughter was very shy and me being the outgoing talk to anyone type it was my mission to break her out of her shell. She was younger so when we went to a restaurant I would make her order her own food. At first it didn't work because she would either break out in tears or whisper so quietly no one could hear her. After I told her, for her own good, you want to eat you will order it she came through and did it. Her smile was so huge for the rest of the night I was surprised she could chew. Point is go out of your ordinary a little at a time. Make yourself do something that you wouldn't have done yesterday. As time goes on you'll find yourself looking forward to what you can do that day that you couldn't see yourself doing yesterday. Start somewhere even if it's a simple HI to someone you see everyday but never spoke to. Oh and make eye contact when you can it shows intelligence, confidence, and so many other things about a person. Good Luck!!

Just a thought, take a look at the situations where you find yourself most vulnerable to being overcome by shyness. If you can identify where these situations are, then you can start to overcome it.

If you think it will help, think of a place that you feel comfortable going to, and take a close friend with you. That way you should find it easy to go about without becoming shy of anything or anyone.

Once you have done this, look back on the situation, and analyse any point at which you were shy. This will allow you to establish what caused you to feel that way, and will give you a foundation to work on (with your friend if you think it will help), thus enabling you to start to banish this demon.

Once you feel comfortable in an easy situation, move onto something a little more trying, and using the same methods as before, analyse any time you felt yourself becoming shy of someone.

Most of all, don't be worried about it. I know many people who are shy, and it is not something to beat yourself up about. Remember who your friends are and get them to help you, that's what they're there for remember!

And another quick thing to remember - be patient. Change will not happen overnight, it might take weeks or months. Only you can decide how quickly you can overcome it.

Good luck, I hope it works out for you.

I know how you feel....by nature I'm an introvert.

Over the years, I've learned that the best way to over come shyness is to present yourself to people with a smile and be interested in what they say or do. Laugh alot. Learns some jokes and you'd be surprised how easily people relate to some one who is likable and outgoing.

It'll take some effort on your part...but once you've won them over they are much easier to get close to.

Good luck!

Join a local theatre group...seriously, it worked for me. I was so shy people thought I was a *****. In theatre you learn to let go of that shy stuff and you have so much fun doing it!

i used to say this (and i'm being serious now)

say to yourself-

"as innocent as a baby"

say it when you are feeling shy.

what it means or hints at is this-babies or kids in general will play with anyone. they don't hate or discriminate. so point is try to be that very same way.

it worked for me.
