laptop and notebook are the same. they used to be called laptops but a while ago, a guy kept his "laptop" on his lap and it kinda burnt him because of the fan and he sued the company because of it, so because of that, it is called a notebook now. notebooks and desktops are pretty much the same. notebooks are compact and can be carried with you to classes and whatnot. they tend to e loud with the fan and heat does emit from it. notebooks aren't usually as fast as desktops (depending on the memory: 256mb, 512, 1g...), notebooks also have the limited battery life if it is unplugged. desktops will not overheat as fast, you can add more to the computer like stream t.v. and many other things.

Personally, i use a notebook; for everything. i bring it with me to classes, to meetings, and at home in my room. i think it is just easier.

A desktop is a full size PC and is generally used for single-location use. While a notebook and laptop are the same, they are used for multi-location use.

Desktop: it has a seperate moniter, seperate tower, seperate keyboard, etc.

Laptop: everything is compacted into 1 thing, that can be folded (what most people have now days, i think.)

Notebook: same as a laptop except it's made mor for typing, i think. but basicly like a laptop.
