If you are not sure that they stole from you, don't rush into accusations. If these people are family, it's not good to let something like that get in between you.

I'd say just forgive and forget and continue enjoying a great relationship. Consider it a gift to them, if you must. This will solve lots of problems down the road.

And, you probably will want to think carefully before letting that person stay at your house again.

You THINK they did? Don't you know if it's missing? And what does Family, respect, answers mean?
That you think someone from your family stole it?
This is really a bewildering question. If it's family and you don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, you can just skip the whole thing. Or call them up and tell them you've misplaced the (whatever it is that is missing -- you fill in the blank) and do they remember seeing it anywhere?
Otherwise, there's not much you can do.

Honestly, i am not big on calling the police. Unless it is something that is very valuable financial or emotionally. Something similar to this happened to me. It was just a few DVDs. I figued that was a cheap price to pay to find out what kind of people they were. So I just had nothing to do with them. They called I told simply told them not to call my house anymore. No matter what it's a hard thing to deal with . I just kept in mind that they took advantage of my kindness and disrespected my home.

Same problem here. I had a roll of quarters ($10) come up missing. I said something like ..after you moved, a weird thing happened..the roll of quarters came up missing. I also stated that I was not blaming for the missing money..A few days later the person made a visit and all of sudden the roll of quarters suddenly appeared.

I would call them and tell them I cannot find whatever, you had seen it right before they got there, and ask if they happened to see it while they were there. Say, maybe it got put in a different place and they saw it. That is about all you can do unless you have proof. That would let them know you are aware it is missing and that they were there when it went missing.

You need to really look hard; if you accuse and find it later, well...

One factor is who they are (friends, close friends, family, etc.). It also depends on what is missing (something cheap, expensive, priceless, etc.). There are too many factors to give a simple answer.

Oh, next time be sure to hit the "Check Spelling" icon before you submit. :)
