That they loved me no matter what and that they only wanted what was best for me. Now that I have kids and I know what it takes to raise your kids to have confidence in themselves, I know they didn't mean it. Wow, kind of like group therapy up in here.

I don't know if you want to call it a lie, more like withheld info, but I didn't know my father had a half-bro and half-sis from his late father (his father died in '73) until last spring, and would have not known to this day had I not done family tree with my great-aunt. I met my uncle, but it was too late for my aunt, as she passed from an auto accident in '96. Why my father never talked about them, I don't know. My father was already grown with a 6 year-old son the last time he'd seen his half-sibs, at his dad's funeral, or before then. I met his stepmother this year, and she's in the process of dying. I went the early part of 2005 thinking I was without grandparents as soon as my mother's mother passed.

When I was in the second grade my dog went to the vets overnight. My mom told me she was having her tonsils out. So I went to school the next day and proudly announced to the whole class that my dog was getting her tonsils out at the vets. The teacher corrected me in front of everyone and said, "No, dogs don't have tonsils." I didn't find out till I was in high school that she was NEUTERED! I'm still mad at my mom.

When I was 5, I had a pet snake and my mom told me she let it go in the park by our house. When I was older, she told me it actually got run over in the closet.

I think that was when they said they loved me unconditionally. I later found out that wasn't exactly true- Funny how some parents withdraw love and support when you need them the most.

My mother told me if I associated with less privileged people, that I would become one of them.
Sadly, this is a true story.
I believe it though.
