I'm just asking this because in the UK (where I am), the attitude to education's really confused. On one hand, we're being told that we all have to be well educated to get on and on the other, we're told that having a degree makes you a snob and that guys don't like girls to have them because it makes them (the guys, that is) feel threatened. It's this last point that's really concerning me. So, is it really the case or have I been given the wrong info?

Get the education you want. If a guy looks down on you for being educated, that probably means he has sh*t for brains. There is no reason to care what such people think.

education comes a long way before narrow minded people.

get your degree, enjoy a good working life, and along the way you'll meet some very nice people who'll respect you for being you.

i personally like intelligent, confident and curious girls, which is what attracts me to all my girlfriends (past and present). the ability to hold a conversation, to be secure in ones own thoughts, and enjoy trying new things are much more interesting and exciting than simply meeting someone who you want to shag. after all you've gotta be able to talk once the 'nasty' has been done, yeah.

i wish you well in your uni course and know that you'll have a fab time while learning.

What kind of guys are you after? On the contrary I would be apprehensive about going out with a girl who didn't have a degree but then that's because I have a degree so we'd have a lot more to talk about. It's a bit frustrating for guys with higher education trying to have conversations with girls who don't; trying to talk about anything deeper than the contents of Hello magazine or who got voted out of big brother tends to draw blank looks.

Disclaimer: yes, I know there are plenty of exceptions and I'm completely open to them; and having a degree isn't the only measure of intelligence and culture. I'm referring only to averages.

it depends on the crowd you hang with. If none of the guys there have a degree then they will not bother with you much - people are simple - they want the same - no complications. I have a degree and don't usually like a girl with one anyway - being smart is not good enough - they act conceited and have to be a real sarcastic smart *** - a bit of education just ruins a woman - they are already smart enough

Where in the UK are you from?? Get your degree and leave these losers behind. It's so easy to get a degree these days, you're more likely to face prejudice and suspicion for NOT having a degree. If nothing else you will have a great time and make loads of friends!

Hell no, if your sound then the degree dont matter whether u have it or not. If u were cleverer than me, whats the big deal, if ur not, who cares. Just would want to get on with u, have a good time and copious amounts of great sex!! :-)

I have a degree and still my ex was cleverer than me, didn't give a sh*t!

Do you want any guy that is threatened by your degree? Education is attractive to me. Anybody should be proud to have an education and be proud to be with someone that has one.

I would consider a girl with a degree only for a long term relationship. In the short term you need a doofus

wouldn't put me off at all - if anything its a big attraction i find dumb girls irritating and boring . education expands the mind and makes you a more interesting person. you make it sound like all girls are educated and intelligent and all men are neanderthal hunter gatherers. Find a bloke who is equally well educated you'll be a better match

i think guys without a degree would not feel up to dating a girl because see would be looking for someone who is an equal with a degree themselves, and therefore more intereting to talk to.

Of course if they don't know you have one its not a problem and you can always tell them later
