What is up with kids now shooting people at school!? Is it because of bad parenting or to much babying going on now a days. I never had to deal with kids bringing guns to school when I was in HS or any other time. Why now and what should we do to stop this? Its getting to out of control.

Even if we heard it more than not I know for sure there wasnt this much in the past. And I do think we should teach kids more about guns, and dont have them in the house. my sister fiance is a hunter and was around guns since he was a baby, he knew if he toucched them when they werent hunting he would get the crap beat out of him. He knew what they were so he wasnt so curious about them.

It is because we are drugging our kids.
How many kids did you know on medication so they will pay attention when you were in school?
I read that the Columbine kids were on medications that make you suicidal/homicidal.
I read an another article about kids that were sent to a school for the trouble makers. They took away all the candy and coke machines and offered the kids a good breakfast and lunch. They became very good students. I think that is why I found school so easy. My mom fixed my breakfast every day I went to school. She packed me a lunch. I drank sodas maybe 1 time a month when we would have popcorn and watch a movie. So the problem is too much sugar. IMHO

I say there is a large part that is the parents. Teach that guns are a weapon not a toy from the time of childhood. It would make a difference. I'm not even as sure to the problem being now. I think the problem is CNN, nothing against them personally but the idea of a 24 hour news network in general. So now we hear about everything. If this happened before we proably wouldn't have heard about it.

In a lot of inner city schools they have now hired security and have metal detectors, atleast where I live. That can help a little but if some kid has the gun ****** when he gets in the door that expensive machinery isn't going to do much good anymore, is it?

As for what action to take, I say private schools are looking good right now. The worst thing they have there are over-privledged girls with $500 purses. They also have smaller class sizes and smaller teacher to student ratios, which may help a child that wants attention get it without taking drastic measures.

Well, I believe some of the shooters have a chip on their shoulder about real or perceived wrongs done to them in the past. Training in kindness and inclusion would be one step in the right direction. I think teen message theater would have a big impact on the way things are going. I found a community group in southeast Arizona who has scripts about this for teenagers to put on in assembly-type activities in or outside of school.
