My husband and I came home from dining out one night, and my neighbor lady - who I get along with, drink at her house on the weekends, play cards with - asked to "see" my leftovers, and upon doing so stuck her fingers in my noodles, pulled one out and ate it!

What would you have done?

This took place at her house, in their foyer (ok, it's an old farmhouse, with a large entry way). Their house is right next to ours, and they were still up when we got home so they invited us in.

We are pretty laid back people. I was rather taken aback by this though. It was my FAVE leftover dish from our fave restaurant...

And, if you tell someone to "make yourself at home", that doesn't mean TOUCH MY NOODLES! It means take your shoes off, grab yourself a beer and sit down to chew the fat! (fat, NOT NOODLES!)

Oh, and she is a bigger girl. And married. To a big farm boy, who's pretty shy though. He'd never touch my noodles.....

I would have laughed, but made a point at the same time. Said something like "wow! If I knew you were hungry, I would have made you a plate!" she probably is so comfortable with you that she isn't aware of any boundary issues. Just don't let her near the food again, unless she is supposed to be involved.

I think I would politly not say anythin and from now on just not invite her over anymore or at the very least wonder why she would be sop bold as to ASK to see MY leftovers HOW RUDE of her, then how rude to EAT the noodle! UNLESS< she has known you for so long that she feels COMPLETLY at home with you. Nowthink back have you EVER, even ONCE told het, MKAE YOURSELF ATHOME? CAUSE, IF YOU HAVE, THEN, dont complain, it is your FAULT. She did just that....

Why in the world would she want to see your leftovers? Maybe you need to fix her up with someone. She has too much time on her hands. Speaking of hands, I guess if her fingers were clean, no foul, but next time tell her you don't have any leftovers.

I think your making to much of it. She wasn't playing in your noodles, she just wanted to taste one.

Honestly, I don't know how I would have reacted.

I would have probably said "Excuse you!" or something like that.
