Will she always hate being held?

Maybe she likes her freedom or maybe she has trust issues. My cat has always hated being held or being on a lap. She's never gotten over it but my cat has issues - she'll sleep on a bed but she won't even step on a blanket on the bed, it has to be just a smooth sheet or she freaks. She's 13 and was abused as a kitten (long before I had her) and has been a couple of freak accidents so I don't blame her for being nervous around people.

Well look at it like this, how would you feel if someone 20 times your size picked you up and held you. They could hurt you or kill you, you might be nervous. It is just like backing a dog into a corner, they get scared and they react.

Just like people, cats have unique personalities and quirks. Some cats don't like to be held, some love it.

Some cats are just that way, its her personality. My Kali cat loves to be stroked and petted but do NOT pick her up. She's never liked being picked up, she will sit in my lap, I think she just doesn't like being restrained.

That's a good question. I always try to hold my cat like a baby and she hates it.

Cats don't like to get over-heated. If the air is cold enough she will snuggle.
