What is the avargae c/i time in most Hotels? I work for a "Resort" and we have a 4pm c/i time everyone tells me its a late c/i time. When ever I travel and stay in a hotel or whatever I always find a 3pm c/i or 4pm c/i. Are these people serious? Do they think im stupid or is it really just me?

Resorts and hotels of better quality usually all seem to have a 4 pm check in time now. All the rest do seem to have a 3 o'clock check in time, so yeah, you're right. Whoever it is that's telling you this stuff probably doesn't get out very much.

Most of the hotels I've stayed in (or simply researched online) have a check in time of 3pm. If you ask the hotel, they may let you check in earlier, but they have to get the room ready. This time may be in place so that when the previous guest checks out at noon, that'll give the housekeeping staff plenty of time to put things in order for the next guest. I was actually glad to have them fixing up my last room because it was a jacuzzi suite, and Lord knows what went on in there before we checked in! (Sorry if that was TMI). Anyway, sometimes hotels do allow early check in. All ya gotta do is ask! :-)

I travel a lot and in the hotels I used to rest they usually states 1 pm as check-out time and 3 pm as check-in time.

The staff normally is willing to help me if I need a slight change of time (both in and out) but I must remark than that occurs only in high quality hotels, rated five stars.

So, yes, 4 pm as check-in time is a little bit late. No, you're not stupid, it is just how the things go in the resort you work. Just suggest the Manager to think about a change for the benefit of your customers.

3pm is the latest I'm used to seeing. And while it's only an hour, an hour is a very long time to be stuck waiting for your room. It can seem like an eternity. You certainly have a right to pick whatever check-in time you think your customers will stand for, but if it is any time after 2pm, it would be nice to publicize it up front and often so that people don't arrive ready for a room that doesn't exist.

it really depend on your check out time -- in general a 3pm check in comes after an 11am c/o. at a resort you generally have people with lenghtier stays and larger rooms - hence more cleaning time. grcious where there is a full house i can't imagine the time to turn the floors if ALL stay until c/o! we've had some run in's and i feel your pain!!!

BTW - you're not stupid and the majority are either just really weary travelers and the others are just hawking for a rebate or comp night (and comp nights kill our ADR!!!)

Last night I stayed in a Holiday Express in California. The check-in was at 3pm check-out the next day was at 11am. Depending on the Hotel, it might vary.

Most hotels have a 3pm c/i time, but late c/i is after 6pm. This was at the Renaissance Hotel in Austin, Tx.

For a business traveller a 3 OR a 4 pm checkin time is impossible. I'm at WORK then. Most hotels that cater to business people allow a late check in time. I've checked in at 3:00 AM before.

Most hotels we've stayed in have a 2 pm check-in and a 12 pm check out. However, they are very willing to work with you and let you check in earlier, or leave an hour or two later if you call them and if they don't already have the room booked immediately.
