How long does it take the actual cones from a Great Basin Bristlecone Pine to grow? Does it grow new cones every year?Seems like a waste of energy to grow cones every year when these things are taking 2000 years to get a few meters high...

Pines grow new cones every year. Reduced carbon is easy to come by.

They are just like any pine tree, except the insanely long lifespan. They actually grow pretty fast at first.
