I can just imagine all the grease blocking my arteries with each mouthful. Can't they use less oil. Use a George Foreman grill for God's sake!! It helps drain the fat

It doesn't have to be if you grill the bacon, cook the sausages in the oven and drain off the fat, poach the egg, skip black pudding altogether, beans and toms aren't fatty at all and mushrooms in the microwave for 2 mins will cook in their own juice. A low fat cooked breakfast!! Just as good I swear.

Traditionally fatty foods being fried in a frying pan using lard. I very rarely have a 'full english' but when I do I poach the eggs and grill the rest not nearly so much fat. Then I go out for a long cycle ride to burn off the calories LOL

NO reason!

The fry up was invented probably when people worked really hard and needed all that fat-fuelled energy.

But really, it doesn't need to be greasy. If you use good quality items and cook them nicely and not just poaching in fat then it won't be greasy. A big load of meat yes! But also, grilled tomatoes - very nice and also healthy! Sprinkle of herbs and cracked black pepper - perfect!

But handmade artisan sausages, free range eggs, free range dry cure bacon, you get the idea. As a treat, and nicely cooked and not swimming in fat - delicious!

Serve with good quality bread and fresh butter, a nice pot of proper tea. LOVELY! Could just eat it now . . . . .

Because most of the ingredients are fried. Have you ever tried cooking baked beans on a George Foreman grill? That hurts immensely. Nobody has shoved a funnel into your face, so you are making the choice to eat it, you absolute spongmonkey. Get out of my house.

It doesn't have to be greasy. I did B&B for 10 years and I used to drain the bacon, sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms etc., on several layers of kitchen paper before serving. For the fried egg, I used to use a very small amount of oil, break the egg into the pan and then put a lid on. I'd turn off the heat and let the egg cook in the residual heat and then sit back and wait for the compliments on my cooking!

Using a George Foreman grill wouldn't make it traditional. English breakfasts are traditionally fried. So if you are looking for tradition then you are going about it the wrong way.

I'd stick to cereal and toast if I were you.

If I am cooking a full English breakfast I always use the grill on the cooker and it's never greasy.

I rarely eat that sort of thing but when I do have it as a treat I always grill the sausage and bacon and have scrambled egg. I don't think many people eat that sort of food on a daily basis. I certainly couldn't and no-one is forcing you to eat it either.

Maybe they could poach the eggs, and don't need a George Foreman Grill - just a plain ol grill will do....

Because everyone knows that the good old fry up was invented to get rid of a hangover and if you've had 15 pints the night before, your health is the last thing on your mind!!!
