My wife is interested in taking a course leading to a CIW certificate in web design. There are various training providers out there - eg Computeach, Skills Train, UK Online Learning - what do people have to say about them? Any good or bad experiences?

Thanks to the two people who have responded so far, although the info given wasn't quite what I was after.

Let me explain the situation further. Regardless of the pros and cons of having a piece of paper or the job prospects, my wife wants to learn about web design, and her best method of learning is via some kind of structured course with targets rather than unstructured self-study. I was hoping to hear from anyone who has had actual experience of various training providers.

Anyone out there....?

I can't specifically answer the question, but will skirt around the issue. I'm a web designer. I have never seen the job situation so bad - there's hardly anything out there, I'm lucky as I freelance. If it's one of those that guarantee a £20k job on completeion tread carefully and ask for reports from happy customers.

They're all a waste of money. I've never seen these certifications asked for in job ads once. Companies want experience, not the same bit of paper that everyone conned by the TV ads promising a fantastic career signed up for.
