i've been thinking about going into those websites to see if I can finally find somone who I'm interested in but I don't want to waste my time. Do they really work?

I found the love-of-my-life (who is also now my husband) on match.com. It took a while and a lot of wading through people who weren't right for either of us, but we feel like we found what we were waiting for. It all depends on how much you're willing to put into it.

I was grateful to have so many options instead of just waiting for Mr. Right to somehow show up. I'm way too picky and impatient for that! I also enjoyed my experience with e-harmony (very peaceful matches), but didn't find the chemistry with them that I found with my husband. I figure that the fighting is worth it!! When you know, you know!

YES! My boyfriend and I met online and plan to marry. The good thing about these services is that you can read profiles about potential dates and accept/reject them accordingly. It's not like just seeing someone in a store and not knowing if they're married, smoke or drink, etc. True, people may not tell you the truth about themselves, but I think that's the process you go through with anyone--no matter how you first met. We both agree that it was well worth the $40 to sign up as we may have never found each other otherwise. Go for it--and have fun!

It depends which sites. Some are real, others are nothing more than meat markets.

I met my fiancee on EHarmony. I can tell you without any doubt that that site works. The way Eharmony is set up, it really is more for people that are seriously looking for a long term relationship.

I'd suggest staying away from any of the free dating sites. That's where you get all the jokers and perverts.

I wouldn't say they find you someone compatible...but they give you the opportunity to "meet" (online intially) a lot of people you'd otherwise likely not cross paths with offline, so the chances of one of those people being compatible is fairly high...especially if you choose a site with a lot of members...

I've known TONS of people who met their significant other online so yeah, it can work....I consider it an addition to the many ways and places one can meet people...

Good luck!

The correct answer is: NO.
I went on one of the sites, and I met this guy who was suppose to be my match, and he took me to a movie (FIRST FOUL- YOU CAN'T CONVERSE DURING A MOVIE) and then afterwards he cornered me against my car and asked if he could take me home cause he was sexually attracted to me.. I said I was looking for a guy.. not an ***!!!
NO NO NO-- those site suck! I was better off trying to hook up on Hot or Not or Myspace.

It is bullshit

If you'd find someone serious on one of those sites its like scoring 4 numbers on the lottery.

My sister met the love of her life on Match.com and I was the Maid of Honor at their wedding in August.

Go for it!

Post a profile and see how it goes. You'll never know. Even if you didn't find your sweetie, it feels good to get as many PM's as you can get:)

Good luck!
