My religious/spiritual yoga society wants me to be abslutely free from 4regs 24/7. These four regulative principles are no meat/fish/eggs, no illicit sex in or out of marriage, no gambling/speculation, no intoxication of any kind.

What should I do?

Dear yoga student,

I think I can guess which yoga society it is that is asking for these four regulative principles to be followed. You will however find that these four regulative principles can not be followed unless you have the commensurate attachment or linking with Sri Bhagavan.

In order to follow these pillars of religion you need to have a higher taste. I do wonder why you are asking this question on a public global forum when this is really a question for those that have a true commitment and focus towards attain the Supreme Person as their life and soul. The majority of persons are content to live their lives in ways that would be better fulfilled in animal forms of life.

I am not sure if you have heard of the Siksha Program that has been inaugurated by His Holiness Jayapataka Swami. This program allows for the slow advancement of a devotee on the path towards Godhead without the disturbing aspects of attempting to force detachment from sinful activities TOO early. If this occurs, one may slip back into bad habits again; years later. Better to be humble, realistic and after each fall pick yourself up again, attempt to find the causes of falldown and then continue on the path of yoga.

They can recommend, they can ask. But it's completely up to you.
