it rather is complicated isn't it? i might say that doctrinally there's a branch between specific denominations, yet spiritually they are united. the adjustments can look very minor, yet whilst those adjustments are utilized by potential of unscrupulous human beings for political/earthly earnings or to accomplish another injustice... nicely it is whilst issues get grotesque. Christians, no count what denomination, have and could succumb to temptation at situations. yet in simple terms to function some attitude... even the early church had what would desire to be seen denominational squabbles. seem at Acts 13 and 14, the place Barnabas and Saul (who will become Paul) are the Christian dynamic duo - healing, coaching, changing Jews and Gentiles left and good. risk-free to declare, those adult men are tight and that they've a solid relationship with God - yet come Acts 15:36 and that that they had a "sharp" war of words and went their separate approaches - united in Spirit, yet they nonetheless had a severe spat and that they needed their time aside. i like to think of the denomination squabbles which you point out are lots like that, in simple terms on a bigger scale

That is about the same as asking why are there so many Muslims in Saudi Arabia. What religion you'll be has everything to do with what religion your parents are and your environment. Whether you will choose to follow any of them is about how much you value faith and just believing what you want to be true over reason and common sense.

Because "Southern Baptist" rules conform to the way most people there already want to behave, so they can follow this "religion" and still feel pious.
