He is probably cute and gets this all the time. Try actually being his friend and I bet you have a good friend for life.

Leave your friends behind! No guy will get personal with you if your friends are looking at him over your shoulder. Be real with him, he is probably even more nervous than you it sounds like. Use some humor to open him up. Ask him questions that require more than a yes or no answer and show him you are listening. Be patient and let your friendship grow for a while, then put on a little flirt to see where he's at.

Marissa, I don't know how old you are, but your friends could cut you some slack and back off the poor guy. Sounds like if you keep talking to him off and on, maybe you could get to know him and he'd relax a little. If he really doesn't like you and you know that, then give it up and go away. That's really the best I can say right now. Maybe you could sneak him a friendly (but not embarrassing) note. Some guys that are shy do fine with note-writing. Best of luck.

just keep doing it, he'll eventually get used to you and not be nervous anymore. although he sounds very shy, so if there is going to be any sort of date, you need to do the asking, and ask him alone, not with anyone around. cuz his reaction may be diffrent.
