Why so many? Because Christianity is not monolithic. The Bible, while it does have certain doctrines that all denominations must hold to in order to be considered Christian (salvation through faith onto works, the completed work of Christ on the cross, etc), there are other doctrines that are not so clear and the Bible allows for variation. Do you baptize my sprinkling as a Methodist would, or my total imersion like Southern Baptists? Are we to have only formal music like the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, contemporary music like most (but not all) churches in the Presbyterian Church in America, or singing without any music like the Primative Baptist Church? And what about church government? A heirarchial one like the Anglican Church, a Congregational one like most Baptist churches, or a council of ruling elders like a Presbyterian one? These are all minor differences aimed more towards personal preferences than anything to do with the actual faith in Christ.
Why do they not get along? For the most part they do, at least today. A few hundred years ago there were wars fought between different biblical interpretations, but that is long past. There are strong rivalries between groups, like the Infant Baptism vs Age of Accountability debate, but it is more a theological debate than a fight. I daresay it does not lead to fist fights in the parking lot, but people being people I'm sure there are a few hotheads out there. Chriatians are, after all, people first and Christians second. And people do sinful things sometimes because they are sinful.

Ya know, I must be living in a sheltered world as I never knew we didn't get along. I have many friends from all faiths and we don't argue religion. These questions keep getting posted about getting along with each other, and I just don't find it to be true. God is love, that is where my heart is.

Because they all claim to be the "true religion" but, sadly, their actions don't prove them right. Practice what you preach. What religion is living according to Bible standards? Jesus said that people would know who his disciples were by the love that they show for one another. John 13:34,35: "34 I am giving YOU a new commandment, that YOU love one another; just as I have loved YOU, that YOU also love one another. 35 By this all will know that YOU are my disciples, if YOU have love among yourselves.”
Who shows that kind of love today? How can you find the "true religion"?Please take a moment to read the short articles the link below directs you to. Thanks and best wishes!

Different interpretations of the Bible and different church leaders have caused the church to split off into many variations. As to why we don't get along with each other, I didn't know that we don't.

Here in town I don't see them not working together. Maybe it's the huge influence of Mormonism here that joins us together. We have different church governments but all love the Lord and are anxiously awaiting His return.... Jim

first was catholic church,
martin luther splits from church starts own religon(protestant), tells new protestants the catholic church is 'the antichrist'
protestant then splits with itself, each claiming to be the one true church. everytime a new church is made, they are told the others are wrong.
